'Affordable' massage parlor to open in Orange - New Haven Register

ORANGE >> It’s not often the phrase “affordable massage” is heard, but that’s just what the new Massage Green Spa, opening at 400 Boston Post Road aims to deliver to its customers.

The business was approved recently by the Board of Selectmen, following a public hearing where there were no objections.

A grand opening celebration will be held Oct. 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The regular hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Orange’s regulations do not allow massage businesses to be open on Sundays.

Owner Robert Tobais, who is opening the franchise here - Massage Green Spa is a fast-growing chain - told the board that “affordable luxury,” is the company motto. Aside from massages, they will have a special infra-red sauna that “warms from the inside out,” and removes toxins through sweat.

Tobais also spoke of the health benefits of massage, including that it lowers blood pressure and later added that something so good for health shouldn’t be just for the “affluent.”

He said the spa will be comprised of members who pay monthly and can discontinue membership at any time.

Selectman Ken Lenz noted that Tobais recently joined the Chamber of Commerce and Selectwoman Judy Williams said she’s excited about the concept.

Tobais also reassured selectmen the massage therapists will be licensed.
