A North Charleston vocational school is inviting the public to help raise money for the tri-county area's only shelter for domestic violence victims by getting massages.
Southeastern Institute's professional massage therapy program is inviting the public to take part in a so-called "massage-a-thon" on Saturday and Sunday in support of My Sister's House, said Daniel Laske, the program's coordinator.
Interested people can book hour-long sessions, available by appointment only, between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on both days, Laske said. Walk-in clients will be accepted for 20-minute chair massage sessions that will be held for 24-hours straight, 9 a.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday.
The hour-long sessions cost $25 and the chair sessions are $10, he said. Payment is restricted to cash or check.
"My Sister's House means so much to me because of their incredibly selfless mission to protect and support abused women and their children in the area," Laske said.
Donations of supplies like diapers, wipes and other items will also be collected during the two-day event, he said.

The event will be held at Southeastern Institute's campus, 2431 Aviation Ave., in suite 703.
