SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — At least two people have been questioned in what police are calling a suspicious death at a Midvale massage parlor—but investigators have not revealed who died, how, or the circumstances.
A caller reported someone “was hurt on the premises” of A+ Massage on Thursday night, according to Sgt. Aymee Race, Unified Police spokeswoman. When officers went inside the business near 7400 S. State, she said they “located an individual deceased.”
Friday, police including forensics investigators, were on site. A sign on the front of the building—and old house that had been a restaurant—said the parlor was open.
2News went through a back door that was ajar, only to be greeted by an officer keeping watch of the property.
The two interviewed by police speak another language—possibly Mandarin—so investigators brought in an officer translator.
2News asked police a series of questions:
- Was it a customer, employee or someone else who perished?
- Was there an apparent/obvious cause of death?
- Are there any arrests?
As of late Friday, police had not given answers, but indicated it’s possible more information could be released soon.
A+ Massage has business licenses from the state and city, and the owner—according to state records—is a licensed massage therapist.
The Utah Division of Corporations showed no disciplinary actions against the owner.
A person who works nearby reported hearing a verbal altercation outside the massage parlor several months ago, but people at two nearby businesses had no complaints with the parlor as a neighbor.
