At least seven women were freed from an international human trafficking ring, the result of a multi-agency investigation that started in the summer of 2023.
Multiple people have been arrested, including a 70-year-old man accused of running an operation out of his home in Southgate.
These massage parlors, however, include the following locations:
111 Healing Studio in St. Clair Shores
AM Healing Studio in Sterling Heights
Magic Health Spa in Detroit
8 Star in Detroit
One man who lives near one of those says he never saw anything out of the ordinary.
“I never, never saw anything suspicious people come and go like they come from the pharmacy,” said Zachary McCoy, who lives near one of the massage parlors on 8 Mile Road. “You know I think they was getting massages for real, so I don’t; I never been in there, so I don’t know.”
A Sterling Heights business owner, Jack Goss, noticed sketchy activity from his chiropractic office that is located next to AM Healing Studio.
“Cars in and out,” said Goss. “Occasionally would see some of the victims going in and out and looking kind of scared and stuff.”
“Yeah, it was pretty clear,” said Goss. “I mean, when you know customers would come in park in our parking lot, sneak in late at night, early mornings, to get a 10-minute massage, you knew something was up.”
The ring was allegedly able to move between these parlors, airports, casinos, and even different homes in the area.
