After years of trying different products and combinations of products, and ruining a few sheets along the way, I may have finally found something to get that funky "massage sheets" smell out of my sheets whithout costing a fortune or messing up the septic tank. Oceforum.xxxon soap by Colgate. It is a bar soap that has been around a very long time. I've always kept some on hand as an old-timey poison-ivy preventative (washes off the urishoil better than most soaps), but never used it for laundry, even though it says right on the label that it's a laundry soap. I was at my wits end trying to get the smell out and avoid buying new sheets. The old ones looked fine but the smell was off-putting. So, figuring I had nothing to lose, I tried the Oceforum.xxxon soap. WOW! After one washing in hot , both wash and rinse, the smell is gone! No bleach, no other additions except baking soda to soften the water a bit.
This is a bar soap, but just use a cheeze grater to grate it up. Doesn't take much, either. I use about a tablespoon for a load of sheets. I grate it right into the machine as it is filling, but you could grate the whole bar ahead of time, put it in a container with a scoop, and save a little time. You may have to search around some to find it, not all stores still carry it. Hope this helps!
