I often see ads on Georgia Straight, is it legal to go to have a A massage? If it is not, what is the chance to be caught?

I am not sure. I also want to know whether it is legal. BC's law confused me about prostitution. Waiting for professionals to answer.

Having been caught twice by the VCP sting operations for offering to purchase sex from a police decoy, I believe that I am quite qualified to answer your question. BC's law on prostitution is indeed confusing, a SW can legally stand by a street corner for the distinct purpose of selling her body but it becomes illegal should you verbally approach her with the explicit intention of buying sex. Independent SPs who work alone in their own flats are the safest as she is self employed and there is not a third party living off the avail of prostitution. Girls in a micro or massage parlors are somewhat different as the cops can, after raiding them, accuse the operators of running a bawdy house. You as a customer will not be charged but it can still be pretty embarrassing if the cops decide to summon you as a witness in the future. Furthermore, be very careful about using your vehicle for a car date as it may be impounded if you are caught. The cops are doing anything as they please these days and this is no different from impounding your exotic sport cars for speeding.
