HALFMOON—Healing can come in many forms.
Elizabeth Marsh— the owner of A Peaceful Place Massage & Wellness, which is now located at 1404 Route 9—knows this better than anyone.
“I got into alternative medicine because of my own health issues and found relief that I couldn’t find any other way,” Marsh said. “I feel that it’s really important to have that available and make people more aware of it.”
She started having seizures when she was 20 years old and the next ten years of her life were incredibly changeling, mostly from the side effects of the medicines that were prescribed to her to remedy her ailment.
Sometimes Western methods simply aren’t enough.
“My mission is to make sure that people have options; everyone’s body is different, what works for one person isn’t always the right answer for somebody else,” Marsh said. “That’s why I like having so many different therapists here who do so many different things; everybody finds their own fit.”
Patients normally walk through the door with symptoms such as pain, discomfort, loss of movement or range of motion and—of course stress.
“Just bringing your stress level down helps you function better during the day,” Marsh said. “We also have many people with chronic conditions and just being able to have them come in, get help and have support with that gives them a higher quality of life, whether you can fully resolve a problem or not, your still operating at a more enjoyable level during the day.”
They offer a balanced array of services for all ages.
Nine essential oils are applied to the spine during Raindrop Therapy. Reflexology, the science that maps the organs of the human body to correspond with specific points and areas of the feet, stimulates blood flow and nerve impulses. The connective tissue (fascia) that surrounds every muscle, bone and organ are gently stretched to release ‘chronically restricted fascial conditions’ when undergoing Myofacial Release. An Ion Cleanse allows the body to be able to detoxify. Healing energy enters the body during Reiki. Energy blockages are released during Chakra Therapy. Hypnosis helps in a wide variety of ways including quitting a bad habit, managing stress or even improving study skills. The deep massage of Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy helps to release muscle spasms and adhesions. The body and mind are connected to the central nervous system during CranioSacral Therapy. Plus, they also have a variety of massage therapies.
Each patient is treated individually. “I let the body talk to me,” Marsh said.
“You have to have harmony between mind, body and spirit; if there is something off in one of those, it will effect the others,” Practitioner Terry Fluri said. “We are all about bringing everything into balance”
They promote a natural healing of the body. “Most people leave in a much different place than when they walked in the door,” Marsh said. “Everything is energy and that’s what we are finally starting as a society to crack open, we are starting to acknowledge that.”
