Accessories Box?

Hi there,

I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction...

I'll be starting my reflexology practitioners course in November and on the info given, I need to take with me an accessories box containing wet wipes, talc or foot powder, nail file, sugary drink or sweets - something else I can't remember at this moment time - my question is - did anyone else have to do this, and what did you use as your accessories box? Is it worth buying something decent to use in the future? Do you all have accessories boxes?!

Hi Laura,

I did the AOR Diploma course and we didn't have one of these boxes. I used to take wet wipes and attrixo (to use as a medium as i hate the feel of talc) to my tarining sessions. That's all we were asked to provide. my tutor used to provide us with drinking water and mints during lessons.

I am intrigued. Why a sugary drink?

I am starting my AOR course in September. We have just had ourpre-coursemeeting, and have been told to:

Dress for comfort with plenty of room for movement.
Cut our nails short - really short!
Bring a note pad pencil & pen.

Coffee & tea is provided.

Footsie - I'm not really too sure why they state to bring a sugary drink [&:]? The course I'm doing is an AOR acredited one - do they differ much in content do you think? I guess each tutor has a different way of teaching and what accessories/equipment they want students to bring to the classes?

Yes, mine said about cutting nails, especially the thumb! I've got a pre-course day in October, so I can ask any questions then, just wanted to be a bit organised with all my bits!

When is your course starting? I'm very excited too - my main aim is to eventually get out of working in the city, which is becoming very tedious and tiresome!

Hi Laura,

I start mine in the middle of September.

My husband and I escaped the rat race 10 years ago and live in the half way up a mountain in the middle of nowhere. It's so lovely here, but my husband is terminally ill, and if I want to carry on living here, I will have to be able to earn more pennies than I do now. When the inevitable happens, I am going to have to hit the ground running. No way do I want to have to return to London. So as well as having an interest in reflexology, my motivation is survival!

I'm starting my AOR Reflexology in September too but don't know about an accessories box...
Did you buy your chair yet? Just treated myself to a Lafuma - sooooo comfy, hopefully worth spending the money! Now got to get a uniform.

I did IIR and didn't have to provide anything apart from a uniform. Now I am qualified i use a baby changing box, you know the ones with a tray at the top, its great to carry around and i can sit on it as well if i need to. I do different therapies so i have allsorts in it. Small 1st aid kit nail clippers etc business cards wipes, nappy sacks, tissues, hand sanitiser etc.

Delores - I use a Lafuma and its great and easy to carry around.

Heya guys, you sound like me when I started the footsie course, have to say I loved it, so much so that I am now assistant teacher on the course I learnt at. I did the AOR course and I would say I've been impressed by the quality and confidence of the students who walk out at the end, very professional setup imo. (Maybe I'm biassed these days!)

I never used a box for things, I just bought a bag from WHSmith in their sale and I put all my kit in that, lightweight, hand and shoulder strap, not bulky and big enough to hold my notes and clipboard.

The lafuma is a godsend, so light when you're working mobile and so comfy if your client wants to drift off. There's a lot to get your teeth into on these courses so just enjoy the leadup cause the course itself should be tremendous fun.

I imagine the sugary drink would be in case a client has anhypoglaecemic attack. . . a sweet biscuit or sugar lump would begood alternatives too.
