At the SCORE meeting, they really really suggested a good accountant. This is something I knew I had to do but the cheap side of me was holding back.

They said an accountant should have software that is assessable to me and that quarterly I would download my data and just give the media to the accountant.

Is this what others do?? What sort of software?? Now I pretty much use paper and pencil. :

I JUST gave up paper and pen on Jan 1 for a spreadsheet. I'm just using excel, this year. The big difference for this year is that once it was set up, bookkeeping is a BREEZE. I already had an accountant and just give her my numbers - this year I'll give her my numbers on disk.

There are tons of software names, some specific to massage therapists. Excel was already on my computer, so no additional cash outlay made it right up my alley. I know some accountants require Quick Books. Mine requires accurate records, but she'll let me choose the format.

I use QuickBooks for my candle business and I'm able to e-mail a file to my accountant quarterly (or whenever I want) and she saves it along with my other info so when tax time rolls around, I don't have to bring much with me. If you can swing the cost of QuickBooks, I highly recommend it.

I use Quickbooks for both my husbands and my sep. business. Very easy to use. This is the first year I'm doing our taxes, so wish me good luck.

I use Quickbooks for my business and Quickbooks Online for our veterinary clinic. The advaneforum.xxxe of the online is your accountant can just log in to your account so you don't have to bring them a disk or printouts. It does cost $19.95/month after the 3 month initial introductory price of $9.95/month (when we signed up in September). I love QB; its easy to navigate!

We use QuickBooks too. It's very easy to customize, and we can easily exchange info with our accountants.
