Additional job while starting MT business

Hello everyone,I was wondering what peope did/are doing while they start up their MT businesses... I'm less interested in working in a spa situation, but either way.. I'm graduating from college this weekend, and graduating from massage school next month... and soon it will be time for me to hit the job hunting war path and I need all the ideas I can get.Thanks!Brooke

Brooke, It's hard to give advice on this subject, as everyone's goals, needs and interests are different.  I would think seriously about what area of massage you want to go into and also about what type of "other job" would best support that.  If you are working a 40 hour week, commuting an additional 10 hours and your job requires occasional travel, it is going to be difficult to find the time to develop your own clients.  If your other job requires lots of physical work, like unloading trucks at a warehouse or something, it's going to be difficult to have the physical energy to do massage.  It's can sometimes be hard to find a job that pays enough and has flexible enough hours that still allows time to develop a client base.  You need to be willing to sacrifice.  It may need to be financial sacrifice, or perhaps time or convenience.  Only you can decide what you are willing to give.

Additional job while starting MT business

I'm working at Home Despot while in school. I am hoping to get a massage position at a spa or chiro office once I'm liscenced. Something that puts me in touch with potential clients, while giving me hands-on experience and the start of a reputation.

I am thinking about becoming a personal trainer part time and MT when I finish with school.  Who knows though, sometimes you just have to wait and see what doors open in front of you.
