HiI have a friend whose son has mild ADHD. Part of the problem he had was his core postural muscles were weak so he was constantly uncomfortable in a sitting position. Because of that he was always moving around changing position etc, and that would lead to him getting more distracted. They worked on his core strength and he is getting better at focusing in school and such as he gets stronger. I thought it was interesting in particular because of the relationship between his behaviour and the muscular system.Another thing I have heard from a mom I know is that ADD was a good survival trait for the hunters, back in hunter'gatherer societies, they could spot the prey while everone else was focused on something else. I think it's important if you work with kids with ADD or ADHD to let them know that while they have challenges to deal with, they aren't Broken, and you aren't their to Fix them, just to help them deal with their challenges. They tend to end up with really low self esteem because they get pigeon-holed as troublemakers too often by people who should know better.
