Advice Needed

I've recently opend my own Massage/Reflexology business. Yesterday, one of my reflexology clients who owns a salon left a message asking if I would be interested in doing massage at her salon 2 days a week.

Does anyone have experience with this or how this would work? I would feel uncomfortable telling her clients about my business. I could really use the income but I'm just not sure about a solution that would be beneficial for both of us. I wanted to have some ideas in mind before I call her back.

If this is something that you really want to do, here's my suggestion. Find out the specifics of what she is looking for from an IC/employee. Make sure she does not want you to sign a non-compete clause (which I doubt since she was in your office and knows you will see clients there).

Then, you could agree that the clients you see at her place will not be marketed to and you will not see them in your private practice. If somehow one of them called you directly, you would refer them back to the salon for booking. However, if/when you leave the salon, clients have free will to find your office if they wish to see you again. So, you would want to clarify what the expectation is when you are no longer there.

She is obviously aware of your private practice, so she may be looking for a simple, easy arrangement.

Sure, I have experience with this.

You can see clients at her place for her and at your place for you. If you work things out with her, you can even make it to where, if a client is closer to her place of business or yours, the client would go to the business of choice. The main thing when making an agreement like that is that all parties are informed that it is not to try and steal clients from one place or another. And you could keep cards for her place at your and for your place at hers - to let everyone know of the 2 options.

If you just choose to work for her without telling anyone about your other place of business, that's ok too. If you do that, just treat it as a second income. You go there, you see clients and then you leave. Of course, you would care about those clients just like your own... it's just that you wouldn't be encouraging them to come see you are your personal location.

There's nothing wrong with either way of doing things. I've done it both ways.
