hi all,

I'd like to know how you introduce different parts of the treatment to your client. When you do the consultation what do you say your reasons are for doing it? In our course we are told to keep the client informed at all times. How do you go about introducing foot reading, and what do you say after treatment do you mention what you found? What do you say?

Its very hard not to sound very repetitive, I would be interested to hear your opinions

Over the years I have got a bit of a routine of what to say which I hope doesn't sound like I'm quoting it parrot fashion but ensures I say everything I need to.

For first appt I will first of all:
- ask if they've had reflex before
- ask them what made them want to try it now

After a bit of chat I will explain that I'm going to complete a short form to take down contact details and get a bit of info from them about their health and expectations from the treatments.

Once this is done I ask if they have any questions for me about Reflexology, how I work or the treatment.

Then once they are happy I ask them to hop up on the couch explaining that the treatment should be nice and relaxing but that there may be some areas which feel tender, and to point them out to me if they are still awake. Advise them that they may find themselves drifting off which is absolutely fine. I also check they are comfortable, have enough pillows and whether they need a blanket.

I then ask them to relax their feet, imagine they are very heavy and if necessary continue to talk them through a relaxation.

After the treatment I ask them to stay there as long as they need to, and when they do get up to do so slowly in case they feel lightheaded. I then fetch water, and explain the need to drink plenty after a treatment, explain about possible healing/detox reactions and give an aftercare advice sheet to take home.

Once they are up and awake I ask them how they found the treatment, then we talk through a treatment plan and book them in for the next one.
