advise needed - spondylosis

Hi, just needed some advise, i had a client today for an indian head massage, i did my normal consultation and everything was o.k, but then she said she had spondylosis in her neack, she said it just gets a bit stiff and thought that a massage might help.
Anyway i was nerver tought about this condition at colleage, and i alway check if they have a neck injury but she had not had a neck injury and she was o.k. i asked her what spondylosis is and she did not know her slef, so i went a head with the treatment only useing light pressure, and was very careful around her neack, after the treatment she said she felt great.
but since getting home and checking this condition out on the web i have came across websits that say I.H.M should not be done on people with this condition, and other websites that say it is o.k just caution is needed.
In this indersry it is so hard to know weather to treat people or not, as half the conditions we were never taought in colleage then when your working on your own it is hard work to know what to do.
does any one feel the same? and did i do the wrong thing giving this lady an I.H.M?
i think i will phone her to check she is o.k tomorrow.
advise please? i am driving my self mad with should i or shouldent i.

I understand what you are saying (and see on another thread) about all these conditions that we have never heard of when training. It's a case of just trying to find out as much as you can about the client's condition before treating them and if in any doubt ask for GP permission.

My hubbie has ankylosing spondylitis and unfortunately is on very strong medication for life but he is pain free and fairly mobile. It affects his neck. When I was training in IHM I needed to practise on him and both GP and consultant gave permission saying that he would benefit from treatments. Of course checking constantly with him that the pressure was ok. I have posted a link here that will tell you about the condition, I am not sure if it's the same condition your client has. I am sure she will be ok.
