Advise please?

I was called to do an Aromatherapy massage on a gentleman yesterday and found that both the house and himself were how shall I put it rather on the dirty side. I was really not sure what to do so I carried on as best I could using lots of wipes and lots of oil and grinned and bared it so to speak. I literally boiled everything when i got home but after several boil washes cannot get the pipe smoke out of my towels. First of all any ideas for that?

I know I am a wimp but I found the whole experienced very upsetting and don't want to do there again. Has anyone else had this experience and if so what do you do?

bless, you see to be getting your fair share....first things first has he rebooked.....

if not dont worry for now....are you able to treat from your home or a room if so perhaps you could suggest he goes there....

after you have washed and conditioned your towels put on another one but put conditioner in both the powder and the conditioner compartments that should work.......then hang them on the line....if that fails there is always the dry cleaners or an accidental drop of your favourite oil!!!

Its a real pain but try not to let it get to you

I will try your advise about putting the fabric conditioner in the washing powder.........never done that before!!!!

He made it quite clear that he wanted more treatments as he said he felt wonderful ....goodness knows what I am going to do about that. The reason I treated him at home was because he had a bad leg and found it difficult to drive. I do have a treatment room at home but to be honest his clothes were sooooo dirty and he confessed to not having had a bath for 4 days so I really wouldn't want to have him in my room either. As soon as I got through the door at home he was on the phone asking the same questions as he had done during and after the treatment so I think perhaps he is going to be a bit of a nuisance as well. I think I am going to have to think of some nice words to refuse him treatment but I have to be careful as this is quite a close-knit community and I don't want to get a bad name.

On the positive side I have been offered two days at a new healing centre nearby and she is only going to charge me £5 per morning/afternoon if I don't get any clients. Thereafter it will be £5 per client. So I am really looking forward to that.

Great news and great price for the healing centre!!!! it really is picking up!

I actually pick up some of my clients and bring them here....or my hubby does however I think I would just have to be firm and say that whilst you are happy to treat him could he please shower/bath before your session! I dont think there is any other way around it.... Please dont work where its dirty it can really make a mess of your day and is one of the few downsides of the job....

tell him the massage and oils work far better on newly washed skin! oh but tell him to maybe do that at least 2 hours before... lol you dont want him just stepping out of the shower all squeeky clean and... naked!!

Tracy your trick with the towels worked wonders............they smell an awful lot better. I felt like chucking them out but they are fairly new and quite expensive. So thanks again.

Rosie.....I am not sure which would be worse......squeaky clean and naked or stained vest and underpants. Perhaps better not GO THERE!!!!!

Suggestion:

Tell him that as you now have a room you aren't doing many home visits and he will have to visit you at your place of work and then do as said above, take a deep breath and tell him that it is best to shower or bathe before a massage.

I don't envy you, have never really had the smelly problem before, most clients are squeekie clean when they arrive.

Can be a problem doing mobile though. Squeezing around furniture, phones ringing, cats purring, dogs barking, television on, kids interupting etc etc.

I think he is having difficulty getting out of the bath that is why he hasn't had one lately. He has just had a new bathroom so I cannot understand why he didn't have a shower tray put in or something more practical. So telling him probably is not enough to do the trick!!!!! I certainly do not want him anywhere near my treatment room.
