Age-related cataracts?

Has anyone had success with this? Have one case which is fairly advanced in both eyes, and another not as advanced and with lots of other health problems. Neither of these clients wants surgery, for different reasons. Have been working the chronic eye and eye reflexes, but there are similarities of tenderness in other areas, such as parathyroids. Anyone else have any experience with this? Happy to discuss here or via PM.

I haven't any direct experience working on cataracts, but would do as you are. The kidneys are also linked to the eyes so I tend to work them well for eye probs.

I recently asked my opthalmologist ( a doctor) about having my eyes done to rectify vision and he said 'dont bother when you have your cataract op they will insert a lens to correct your eyesight' !!!! I haven't got them yet, so hopefully a long wait

You could perhaps work through the fears your client has with her, as the op will probably be inevitable to maintain her vision.

Thanks for those comments, Jan. Yes, one of them will probably need the surgery, and says her fear is related to anasthesia which is based on allergies. She is also a licensed alternative health practitioner, and maintains her position with great conviction!

For both, yes, there is also a great deal of tenderness in the kidney reflexes but that's pretty much true for all my clients, so I had not associated it with the cataract issue. I wish I knew more about the underlying causes of cataract formation, but apparently there's not much definitive as indicated by the term "age related".

My parents have both had probs with eyes.

Cataract ops are performed under local anaesthetics over here, not general so she would not be unconcious. They put drops in your eyes to anaesthetize.

Protecting the eyes from bright light/sun is the best prevention I think. Also a supplement with lutein is good for eyes. I buy retinex from healthspan to help mine. www.healthspan.co.uk Are good value, I get all my supplements from them, although its worth checking out other sources.

Having had both my eyes done about 18 months ago (I had congenital cataracts and was therefore very memorable in Moorfields since I was the only 40 year old in there) I can honestly say it's no big deal. The anaesthetics were really good (and you can have a mild sedative if you feel you need one), the post-op pain was no worse than having a bit of an itchy eye and I could see perfectly one hour after the op. You'll be amazed at the colours you'd not seen before, the individual leaves on the trees........ it's a marvellous thing, provided your partner hasn't been neglecting the DIY because they knew you couldn't see it The only faff was putting the drops in several times a day. You do need glasses for reading after the op, but only because the lense they implant can't be moved by the muscles of the eye. And I find that sometimes, if my eyes are tired, my vision's a bit more blurry than usual. But I no longer need glasses to drive or, more importantly, get out of bed in the morning!
