Hi,
I was always taught that being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is a contraindication. If a client is addicted then the chances are that they are under the influence when they come for treatment and you shouldn't treat them.
However, if a client does have addiction problems you should be able to refer them to someone who can help such as a counsellor or their GP. I suppose that when they have their addiction under control they would benefit greatly from general reflexology treatments. I'm not sure there would be any particular reflexes to help. A full general treatment would be the best. After all, there are so many reasons a person becomes addicted in the first place. Not very easy to isolate.
The AOR advises that if the client is NOT under the influence of drugs or alcohol it should be OK to proceed, but with caution. Client could have a very strong or violent 'healing crisis' response.
Hope this helps
Maggie xx
