ALone in LOS .... What you do to protect your money and yourself ?

Is it safe to walking on the beach at 8pm night ?

Do you put all the money maybe US$3000 in your wallet ?

Do you bring your ATM Card , Credit Card ?

What is your worst experince in LOS ?

Nowhere in the world I would feel at ease with 3000 USD in cash in my pocket.

Just bring some cash like 250 USD and use your bank card and bring your Visa as well. I only withdraw 10.000 Baht each two days. Leave your atm card in the hotel safe in your room.

Never had any problems in Patong...and what is nicer than a walk on the beach with a nice Thai girl, much more fun than walking alone.

my 1st time in LOS in march, the day i got home from LOS, my bank called me and someone took out 15,000USD from my account through some electronic scam. it had nothing to do with LOS, the bank told me it happened to people who never left their house, but it was pretty crazy. i usually take my atm and credit card out and put them in my front pocket.

Like anywhere just use common sense and keep your wits about you , i always visit the atm in daytime and return my C.C to the hotel safe immediately , dont be tempted to go drinking with it in your pocket because if you lose it when drunk - your'e fcuked !!!
Like Steven eleven has said , dont draw out big amounts either 10 or 20,000 baht is more than enough each time you visit a bank .
Different BM's here spend varied amounts depending on what you plan to do in the evening , are you going to drink like a fish ? will you be buying many rounds ? ringing bar bells ? bar fining 1 or 2 ladies ? eating out? ...etc...
For anyone who is visiting a new place , it is difficult to guage at 1st , how much you will spend in an average night , if you go to the POLLS & SURVEYS section here , you will see a thread quizzing BM's how much they spend on average per day , have a read & this should hopefully give you some kind of idea how much to take out with you each night.
bear in mind some members are hardcore drinkers & tg consumers so you may find you dont need anywhere near as much.
Some nights i spend as little as 2,500 - 3000 baht , some nights can easy go up to 6000 - 10000 baht. depends what you are doing really but dont carry too much around & try not to flash it about either

I've heard that some of the hotel safes can't be trusted, depending on the quality/honesty of the staff. What about hiding your stuff somewhere in the room? There's got to be someplace safe to hide it.

Security and safety is all common sense, which has already been pointed out in this thread and several other recent threads. Hiding something in a hotel room, doesn't sound like common sense to me. Would you hide something in a hotel room in the States or elsewhere, and realistically expect it to still be there later??

i heard of other los regulars hiding stuff before , if you are going to do it , then if at all it is only advisable to hide it for a short while , while you are banging some girl you just met for short time to give an example.
Some of the suggestions include using air vents if the room has one , behind mirrors that usually tilt so that the bulb can be changed , making a small cut/hole in a chair underneath the seat as a stash place & even under the lining the cleaners put in the little wastebins , but you gotta remember you put it there so this can be riskier than using a safe IMO
I dont do any of this as i use the safes and try to have faith in the staff & also use my lockable suitcase as a tempory place to put money and valuables while i have a lady in my room.

There is a very well known scam of the hotel!

They take out the cc you left in your safe!

They go shopping and then....put it back!!!!!

So you don't know even that you have been robbed until you come home!!!! :biggrinlo

a lot of personal has the key of your room, my camera was stolen that way!

Leave your valubales in the safe in your room, or bury a very good suit -case to leave camera etc in ...locked!

Not 100 % safe, but some will be afraid to stay in the room too long!

I've said it before and I'll say it again after ten or so visits and always staying at the same hotel have Never had anything go missing from my room and definetly not from the Safe. Maybe I'm just lucky but I doubt it. LOL

I carry a full wallet...credit cards, driving license, 'Bat Pragan Sang Kom', ATM's for 3 bank accounts, money (never much cash),everything all the time. In my back pocket as well.

Never had a problem....
