Amendment to the Prostitution Act 1999 (Qld)

Just a "heads up" for everyone...

There has been a recent amendment to the Prostitution Act 1999, (which may be downloaded as a PDF document at http://www.legislation.qld.gov.au/LEGISLTN/CURRENT/P/ProstitutA99.pdf) which makes it illegal to provide or receive bareback services. For more information, refer to section 77A of the Act.

LOL - I was just complaining today about the incredibly high number of calls I've had asking for BBBjs in the past 2 weeks!

I have been quite rude to some of them so if they were cops trying 'entrapment" they deserve it!

Yes the amendment has been a while in coming and its purpose was to clear up the original intention of the Act which only (by a drmpting accident as I understand it) made BB services unlawful in parlours rather BB services overall.

Actually, I only found out about it myself cos NN posted it elsewhere.

The amendments appear to be based on a section of the ACT Prostitution Act 1992, and in some parts the wording is identical.

Have to correct you there Raven - PLA and The Act doesn't regulate the internet - only print media.

However, S92 does say - for definition of advertising - (d) matter that is not in writing, but which conveys a message because of the form or context in which it appears. It looks grim based on the definition but in the next breath when put together with the definition of publish - it cuts out the net completely. (Publish - an advertisement or statement means publish, or cause to be published, in any way including by newspaper, periodical, notice, sign or circular or through radio or television or by film or video recording.)

They regulate what licensed brothels can put on their website because it's part of the licensing terms but as for sole operator websites and advertising sites - there are currently no restrictions. I have been over it with the PLA - none of it applies to internet - just newspapers, magazines, yellow pages and any other print media.


On a personal thought - It would be very hard to control content on the net even if they passed a Regulatory Act on it. How are they going to issue a warrant on a server owner who hosts your website if it's not in Australia?? They won't cause it would only be QLD State Law not Federal or International Law. A local court won't want to do that. If you had underage WL - you would most likely be prosecuted because child exploitation and pornography is Reviewowned upon Internationally as well as in OZ. Prostitution - not so much.

I would so be up on my soapbox about the interent if there was talk in the Officials ranks about touching the internet!!! Got to have some Revieweedom of information in this biz!!! It would be easy to hide a site and go "underground" on the net - I think maybe they like it out in the open at the moment - so they can gather info and make new laws such as the current amendment - where do you think they got the idea Reviewom??? Yup - reviews - disconcerted at so many BBBJ's going on - QLD Health Officials said it has to stop because they fear that HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis figures will rise.

As NikkiVip said - be aware of what you are writing in reviews and try to review within the law. Don't get your little honey in trouble. I'm sure girls will still provide it - fines just will be a business expense for those who don't go cloak and dagger. Just be aware that girls will probably not fess up on the phone that they provide bbbj and pussy licking without protection - so don't push them - they may think you are a cop. Cheers!!!

Even with the previously existing legislation about what services can be provided in parlours, which were originally VERY strictly enforced by the owners - I heard of at least two WLs sacked on the spot for breaching those guidelines - BBBJ has snuck back into the parlours, if the info Reviewom WLs who used to work in them (and who do not provide those services) is anything to go by.

NNikki is right - it will still go on. But given that mp.nets continually post about how there is more than one lady working Reviewom such and such premises, despite people laying it out time and again that doing so brings those ladies under the microscope of the cops and will result in ladies and possibly clients getting busted - I can't see that people are going to suddenly become discrete in what they post on line.

As for phone calls - I suspect that Carly is spot on. If she's had an increase in phone calls enquiring about them, I suspect that the boys in blue are indeed spending some oh so very worthwhile time collecting evidence. What with rape and murder and theft having been abolished in Queensland, you know.

And banning going down on ladies without dental dams???

I wonder how it'd go ranking the states in order of 'best prostitution laws' to 'worst'. I think we're still just barely ahead of Victoria (no photoregistration and files kept on private ladies, who can then only do outcalls, no huge sueforum.xxxrothels) but I'd hate to debate it.

I'm Reviewom Sydney mpter all :wink: And mpter years of dealing with ppl Reviewom Victoria, and wading through THEIR Act, (which explicitly includes internet content) I pretty much assumed that "publish" included internet advertisements. Oh well, we can be thankful for small mercies can't we? (At least for the time being anyway )

I recall your goodself and several other now more known mp.nets approached me way back in the dark days of the ( other ) site asking for suggestions. I've never had a problem with that and hence why my email addresses are available for mp.nets/WLs to email me with their thoughts.
