HONOLULU (KHON2) - Stealing a massage chair is bizarre, but stealing it again is just brazen. Last year "Massage Vending" contacted KHON2 telling us that one of their chairs in Pearlridge Center was gone. The family-owned business is shocked it was targeted once more.
The massage chair that was stolen last year in November was recovered less than a week later in Kakaako. Owner of "Massage Vending" Jason Loder is hoping for another miracle this time around.
"Sadly similar to last year, we had a chair disappear," said Loder.
It happened at the same location as last time, near Longs Drugs in Pearlridge Center's Downtown complex. Two massage chairs are supposed to be here, but now there's only one.
"You know people are selfish enough to not take into account somebody else's property, a small, family-owned business, and they come in and take what's not theirs," said Loder.
Loder noticed one of his massage chairs was missing on Saturday, but at this time he doesn't know exactly when it was stolen.
"So I think it was a couple people that have to lift the chair, put it in the truck, and drive away. I think there are a few people involved," he said. "We're working with security to identify through the camera footage or whatnot the timing and who the perpetrators might be."
He's also asking for the public's help again with another cash reward because that's how he found his stolen chair from last year. Thanks to a tip that came in from Crimestoppers, it was found dumped on a side street in Kakaako. Loder is hoping his recently stolen chair will turn up.
"We're hoping there are some honest people out there and a Christmas miracle comes along and we'll get the chair back again," said Loder.
