The last time I was there is was 580 for the room with 24 bottles of Chinese beer and 200 rmb tip for the girls. This was for a room for 8-10 people. Bigger rooms cost more.

Well, then go for the Phillipino Band which is quite good. The beer is still reasonable priced (30 RMB / pint). Had one of the staff members back to my room, however with a little help of the young "public relations guy" there. Or whatever his function is. I saw better looking girls (working) there as well, but not so often.

try the 1912 district in Nanjing, lots of bars and clubs, very busy at weekends but quite in the week, the Blue Marlin there always has a selection of working girls but only 5's or 6's.

I lived there for one year and here are my recommendations.

Hotels
For high-end you can pick the Crowne Plaza or Hangjue, especially the first one is right in the middle of town. I had convenient company rates so I'm not sure how expensive they are... but you can give it a try.
In case you want something in the industrial zone I definitely recommend Guoxin hotel.

In Hanjue you have a pretty famous KTV on the 4th floor, you can usually bring girls to your room. If you want a massage with HE or more (and you prefer to check the girl first) take the elevator to the last floor (14th or 15th I don't remember) and then take the stairs for one more floor. Once you reach the top you will find a guy that speaks a few words of english. For a massage with HE you should be able to bargain down to 300 rmb, good luck.

In Crowne Plaza you can get a special service only in the massage parlour which is part of the hotel but managed by an independent company. Just ask for a special message, but it will be rather pricy (700 rmb I guess).

in Guoxin just go to the massage area, they are very explicit in their offer so you won't need further guidance from my side.

Bars
The Doors is probably the best one left, all the others I used to go to are now bankrupt (probably because I left town!). For a more Chinese experience you can try the Royal One (or a similar name, not 100% sure...) which is also a KTV with girls you can bring home.

Clubs
Downtown you can check SoHo, probably the best one and always full of people, even on week days. There are some other new ones but I don;t know the names. In these places you will find lots of local girls but no working girls / freelancers.


Dodgy Clubs
Boss Club - but I'm not sure if it is still open. Else just pick any of the KTVs...

Yes see other 125's about, I stay outside the city as it's closer to work so only have to do about 6km a day on it, just got fed-up of waiting around for taxis all the time when finished for the day. Usually only go into the city at weekends and get a taxi then

I bought one last year in Shandong province, I had it for 6 weeks than it was more or less down, but I made almost 60km/day.

From hotel to work it was 22km and during lunchtime I made another 20km, so you can imagine I had some problems to keep the batteries charged. Finally I ended up to rewire the batteries and charged it with a 20A transformer, which reduced the charging time to less than 2 hours.

Finally I got tired of it and went for a 125cc Honda (Wuyang) witch is quite a bargain in China (~7000 RMB, including registration and insurance for the front disk model).

BTW, I hold the Chinese DL. Are you currently in Nanjing, if so can you just check around if you see other 125cc’s? For work I have to cross the river, so my guess is that the electric scooters will not work for me this time. The other option is to stay out of the city centre, and use the taxi to get into town.

There are a lot of KTVs in Nanjing, some in Hotels (higher priced), and some outside private, (600 rmb for room), some are big with over 200 girls, but maybe only 5 or so will speak English. Even at reception they may not speak english. I always go with Chinese locals.

yes, sinohotel website is great, if your on your own and not a chinese speaker best to ask for the booking confirmation in english and in chinese, saves any problems at checkin when the staff 'pretend' they do not understand english. with sinohotel you do not normally have to provide your credit card number or prepay.
