I want to pursue a career in Massage Therapy and have already found a properly accredited career college to attend. I was just wondering if this is a career that can financially sustain a somewhat comfortable lifestyle. I think something between 20,000-30,000 for the first few years would be satisfactory. Do you think this is a probable estimate?
How much can I expect to earn annually in 5-10 years? I am not doing this for the money, I just want to make sure that I will be able to afford the things I need, and not live pay check to pay check.
I live in Modesto, California. There are many salons, chiropractic offices, retirement homes, hospitals in the area. I frequently come across open job positions for a CMT on hiring websites.
Any other tips, advice or information on the subject is greatly appreciated. Basically I just want an idea of what to expect for the future so I can set reachable goals. Thanks
With my first initial schooling I want to learn the more popular forms of massage such as Swedish, Aromatherapy, Deep tissue, and Hot Stone. The course I will take will touch on all of those. Later I intend to return to school for further education of massage. I would like to be able to offer my clients a vast range of massage and technique. I really do enjoy giving people a great massage. I think Massage Therapy is a great alternative medicine. Being a CMT is something I think I would get great enjoyment out of.
