Any suggestions on how I could introduce this girl?

It's story about a boy who goes on adventures where dreams have literal involvements in some ways. On his adventures, he faces living nightmares that cause terror. It's basically a fantasy adventure, but on the current setting, earth, I want to keep in a bit more realistic than the other world in the story.

Anyway, there's a girl who has the talent of revealing these artifacts that a group of villains in the future plan to use for an evil purpose. They use her to gather them (she doesn't know it's bad yet), because in return, they'll help the girl with something important to her.

I have the protagonist first meet her by saving her from some of the nightmare creatures chasing her, but don't know where to go from there. All I'm sure of is this is where she becomes one of his friends and goes on a few adventures with him to find those artifacts.

Any suggestions on how I could go about this?

Well you just said he saves her from the monsters, so isn't that how you are introducing her?


EDIT: Well, then they travel together for a bit and she gradually comes to see that she is being used and has to come up with a way to trick them. Or since she doesn't know they are bad yet, she travels with him for awhile to get it away from him cause they told her he is evil and after that she finds out it is the other way around and then she starts helping him.

It depends on her character. If she's a tough girl, have her brush herself off, thank the protagonist, and try to move on her way without him with a vague explanation of what's got to do... and then he can feel obilgated to continue protecting her and a connection can be formed, if that's what you're going for.

If she's more girly and flirty, maybe have her give hints, proudly, about her work to him in an attempt to be mysterious. Maybe she can tell him that she might need some help, even though she actually believes that she doesn't need any help... if that makes sense xD

Just make sure that they have a lot of conversation and you mention body language to indicate if they're ever going to be "together" or just remain friends

Maybe they both have a common destination and decide to travel together for a little bit until they get there. When they intend on separating--- maybe the girl could ask for his help in return for something or vice versa. What about them separating and she shows up to save him from something at the right time-- basically fate telling them that they are connected and from there they decide to travel together. It could also be something as simple as safety in numbers that brings them together and a friendship forms from there.
