First did my back in 1990, lying on the setee one night and had a sharp stabbing pain in the base of my spine. Two to three weeks later everything back to normal. Then over the next sixteen years lots of up and downs with my back, back locking in the base and going into spasms-good for sometimes 18 months then spasms, so off to the chiro for manipulation.
Then in Feb I started waking up in the morning with a very stiff lower back, no pain just a bit achy. As there was no pain I just soldiered on waiting for it to go away. In May I went to a chiro who managed to rid the ache and stiffness but I then started to get a sharp pain in lower back, this pain got worse untill it was painfull to sit and stand up, lying down gave me the best relief.I hav'nt been back to the chiro. The pain has now become quite severe, yesterday I hit the deck with bad stabbing pains. The pain is very central in the lower back, I thought it may be a disc problem, but, I have NO leg pain what so ever. My back feels very, very weak, like it's just done a marathon and in between the describes pain it continuesly aches. I am now on the first run of the NHS - back pain clinic, this will hopefully lead onto an MRI.
I am 40 years old. In 95 I was x rayed for Ank Spondylitis, the results were clear then. Dicofenac used to help but no effect now.
Any suggestions,cheers............
