gawdalmighty! It's starting already, and my feeling is that it's only the beginning of a huge disastrous boondoggle causing the failure of many small to medium size businesses. I'll wager that many who fought hard to get that law passed will eventually be saying, "OMG, What have we done!"

Don't hold your breath. Until it affects them personally, they really don't have a clue what their regulations mean to the people who have to comply with it. After George mcGovern retired, he bought a motel in SD which went bankrupt in about 5 years. He later gave an interview where he said 'if I really understood what those laws meant to real people, i might not have voted for them" Too late...and it took him going bankrupt to see the light.

As TJ says, the gov't that governs best, governs least.

Yeah, but, um, if you pay him more than $600, you will have to send HIM a 1099 too!

ROTFLMAO!! Its funny now, but if we seriously end up having to do this it would be the dumbest thing ever!

So if I spend $600 at massage warehouse in a year I'd have to send them a 1099?? What if we fly to a workshop on a $600 plane ticket? We send the airline a 1099?

It is highly unlikely that the mandate will be strictly enforced. My guess is that the flap over this will result in a quick revision tacked onto another bill.

Let's hope so! Reminds me of the bill last year to require all manufacturers of any children's products to be tested for lead. :roll: Umm, lead based pain isn't even sold in this country. Way to put thousands of people out of business. They amended that one. It's just amazing to me that this stuff goes this far.
