Anyone use a Table cart????

Ok so I am so not sure if I am putting this in the right area but anyway, How many of you do solely out calls? And How do you get your table around and up stairs? I am 5'1" and I am finding it more and more difficult to get my table into peoples homes, the tables are heavy and awkward and I am short. Has anyone ever used one of those table carts? If so, does it help and who is the manufacturer? Thanks! Hope everyone is doing well!

I for one use a cart... and oh my! I wish I would have gotten one from the beginning! My only complaint is that it can be a unstable if you have stuff in the pockets of carrying case. Easily managed if you watch what you are doing. :wink:

However massage warehouse now has a new one with a wider wheel base. I plan to get this one too. Here are the links to the items.

This is the one I have, most of the time, I don't bother with the strap (doesn't affect stability, and my table stays seated just fine, except when I don't pay attention... LOL)

i'm not a fan of table skates. i don't feel they provide any stability.

the one thing i've found in the massage cart industry is that alot of them don't allow for the table to be in its case. that truly stinks when it rains. (it doesn't snow much here in florida, but i would imagine that that would stink too. )

I'm able to get my table with the case on the cart for the first model... its just if I load the pocket up with stuff it gets a little side heavy and prone to tipping. As long as I don't stuff sheets and other stuff in there I'm ok.

I've taken to bungee cording the bolster near the handle... now I find I don't forget it when I need it the most! :roll:

I'm also in Florida, and I don't find snow a problem. : Rain... now that is a different story. :shock:

I have a table cart that I purchased from ebodylogic.com its similar to the first one Talenyn showed. I always put my table in its cover then place it on the cart and use the strap to secure it. I will admit I had trouble placing the table on the cart for awhile. Luckily, Body Logic is here in the Dallas area and got one of the girls to show me how to load it on again. But it does save on my back, shoulders, and neck. I would be so out of breath when carrying all my stuff now I don't have that problem. If only I could get it in my trunk of my car a little easier. Next year new and bigger car or bigger trunk.

So if you have a massage supply store in your area get them to show you how to operate it. It is worth the money.

That all sounds great! Iam looking into the second picture though, I already have the one in the first picture and it tips very easily and I can't manuver it up stairs and that seems to be the biggest problem for most of us! Any great ideas on that anyone!! STAIRS SUCK!!!! :roll:

I have an oakworks wellspring, so of course I decided to get the oakworks table cart. I have had 2 knee surgeries so I didn't want the extra lugging around especially during the winter time and worrying about hitting a patch of ice. I find the cart very hard to use, mainly because I am tall. I wish it had another set of wheels so that I don't have to flip it up, I have to have it in front of me and I bend over to push it, otherwise it falls over. I definitely can't use it on stairs, that would have been a plus. I can get my table on it with the case, I wouldn't do a housecall otherwise, I don't want to risk ruining my investment. I would rather have it in the case vs. the cart any day if it had to come down to that. Hopefully they will come up with something that is ergonomically correct and stair worthy!

Yep, I have been looking at this one for a while. Anyone have it, please let me know what you think. It looks more like the way I'd like to cart a table... I like the idea of the wheels this way, though I'd still like more info on how it handles.

Oh Muriel I could not agree with you more.
WASTE of money in my opinion.....I would advise students to not buy the one included in your special package.
They are worthless on stairs....and a curb is a stair I guess.
It is fine form the front door to the curb..then I struggled...then it was fine from the curb to the truck...then I struggled.
Thank goodness I do not do outcalls anymore.

I know we have savvy MT's around....someone PLEASE design a better cart....

i saw this new design recently. for the occasional outcall, this might not be a bad itdea. but if you're going through driveways, parking lots, curbs or stairs, i can't see how this will be any better than lugging your table.

i have designed a better cart. unfortunately, i know absolutely nothing about manufacturing. it is based on this design, which is the cart i mentioned in the other thread:

i would love to have a slightly wider base, better bungees, and heavy duty swivel caster wheels. your table goes flat against the back of the cart so your table can be in the bag, stuffed with sheets and gear.

I have seen people using a dolly and I don't think its a bad idea. The only thing is the table would be turned flat and that sometimes would not fit into doorways much less stairways.

So Mush, when are you going to build and market this new cart that can make it up curbs with little problem and the wheels swivel an the bungee cords are stronger and it is compact too. Oh yeah and affordable.
