AOR Practical Exam

Hi

Can anyone tell me what takes place in the AOR practical exam? We have been told that we just do a treatment and a verifier is there observing....however, having read la touche agreeable's post re ITEC, she says their examiner asks questions....I was told this wouldn't happen with AOR as it would be interrupting treatment.....please can someone give me some advice, as I am seriously worried about this now.....If they do ask questions, what kind of thing is it on?

Hi Sarah,

I did my practical in February and my theory in July. There were no questions in the practical. The assessor just observed and looked at course files. They expect you to do the treatment as thoroughly as if it was a paying client so even if you know the person you're working on is familiar with reflexology still go through explaining what it is and what you will be doing etc. All in all it was less daunting than I had expected.

I qualified two years ago but we did our theory, practical and oral on the same day. A heck of a lot to do but it meant you were focussed on nothing but reflexology and it got it all out of the way in one go. The practical consisted of a full treatment lasting an hour (being nervous as we all were, we went over each reflex twice to make sure we took enough time [8D]). It was all done in silence so you could really concentrate, and the observer was very unobtrusive, which meant you never actually knew whether he was watching you or not.

The oral exam was separate and consisted of everyone sitting in the room together and the examiner asking each person a couple of questions. Things that didn't necessarily come up in the written paper, like "Name three possible contraindications that you would still treat".

I did my AOR four years ago(best thing ive done). And it was a practical assessment with questions.
I have spoke to a friend who is doing it at the moment and says it is still the same.
They will normally ask u what u have found and explain how and why...and how would u treat etc. hope all goes well x
