Arbone Massage Cream?

Does anyone use this?

I was speaking with an arbone consultant, and she raved about the massage cream, especially it being all natural. She gave me a tube to test out, I put a drop on the back of my hand, rubbed it in, I was dying as I drove home... I wanted to wash it off soooooo badly!!! My hand and eyes were burning from the Menthol. She mentioned using gloves while applying it, I can see why!!!

Not to sound glib here.....but why would anyone use a massage cream that you had to use gloves to apply it?? I can't imagine putting anything on my client's skin that I wouldn't want on mine.

I'll put this brand on my list of "not to buy"

It didn't dawn on me until after about her mentioning the gloves... and I agree, I wouldn't want it on my clients skin if I don't want it on mine.

Arbone products are supposed to be 100% natural, and I remember a MT pushing it at a seminar that I went to... but I won't use it, at least this one!

I've been wary of things touted as "all-natural" ever since I figured out that arsenic is naturally present in small amounts most everywhere, among countless other poisons, toxins and what have you. t120 it doesn't mean it's good for you, or that it won't irritate you as an individual.

My good friend is an arbonne consultant & she's tried to get me to use arbonne's relaxing massage oil on clients. The ingredients don't look too bad, but anything with a strong scent - whether i find it appealing or not - is something I stay away from for the sake of clients' individual sensitivities. To the company's credit, however, I have used 7-day samples of their Intelligence face care line and was happy with how my skin turned out, though compared to how I usually treat my face, I bet even a strict ice-cream face-washing regimen would have worked wonders :roll:

Weird that as a consultant, it wouldn't have struck her as odd that a massage cream of all things would need to be applied with gloves?! wonder how she would have answered if questioned as to why the gloves were needed..

Do some more research on the arbonne products. You will find out some interesting things. Like the fact that they are not as natural as they claim to be. I too have had several consultants in the last month try to push several pieces of the arbonne line on me. Things from herbal supplements to face cleansers and massage creams. I have a strange feeling that their bottom line must be down if their representatives are having to push so hard right now to get folks to buy the products.

Think I will stick to my trusty jojoba oils, and nutri-naturals creams.

I was given a bottle of the massage oil, and liked it. Way too expensive to use/buy, though.

I've had different MLM companies try to get me to use their "warming oil" which is primarily glycerine, which was very sticky!

Several months back an Arbonne rep tried to push me to carry the products in my shop. She left a variety of freebies for me to try out. The oil stained my sheets & the smell was a bit overpowering. When I told her I was not intrested, she then tried to get me to become a rep, apparently she got commission for signing on new people. I was SO not impressed with her sales pitch, as it all boiled down to a pyramid sales scheme. I didnt like the products. To top it off, HER supervisor called me to set up an appointment for a massage, but no-showed on me when she realised I would not stock their products.

what is it with the arbonne reps? i have had the most pushy women trying to make me sell these products for them.. i've learned a very valuable lesson though: with the most pushy, i tried to be very nice and very clear with "not now, maybe later..." which she took to mean she could keep calling and emailing and trying to stop by. i finally went with a more direct approach (i hate confrontation and go into avoidance mode sometimes) and emailed her and told her that i have decided her product is not right for my practice. i think that's finally stopped her. but it seems that these reps are being really forward here in our town, which is not used to that method of selling.

I knew a lady whoa was a rep and very nice. No problems with pushy-ness, and dropped off the massage oil, a bottle of salt scrub and a bottle of bath salts. I have tried all on myself and two other people (friend/family). I also decided the products were not for me. The smells are too overpowering.

This is so not true. And unfair.

ANY person, regardless of what they are "selling" can be pushy, rude, dishonest or behave in any number of unethical ways. INCLUDING massage therapists. :roll:

I'm a PT Assistant, an LMT and a Reiki Master, AND I'm an Arbonne consultant. I use the products I like in my practice and have never had anyone complain. I don't use the Arbonne massage oil because I agree it is too expensive to use professionally and have always blended my own oils with essential oils.

The muscle rub mentioned above is like a "deep heat" or "icy hot" type of product, NOT a massage cream you would use for general purposes. It is too strong for me, I don't like the heavy scent and it does burn my hands. I much prefer Sombra and use that in my practice.

Generally speaking, some products out there are too strong, some don't have the right glide, some have artificial fragrances or ingredients and they are marketed directly to massage therapists. So beware of "Acme Massage Company", because they try to suck you in and sell you stuff, and some of their stuff will burn your eyes or make your clients have asthma attacks because of the artificial fragrances, or make their skin break out because they use petroleum products. :?

Please people, don't paint everyone with the same brush. Those people who use and like Arbonne, or use it as an extra stream of income (because the product sells itself IME) are not evil to begin with. Some people just "drink the Kool-Aide" if they end up on an unethical team.

I worked in a shop with a girl who sells Arbonne, and she's never been pushy, but she sells a good bit of product. I never tried any of their massage products, but I absolutely love the powder base makeup I bought from her. I have very sensitive skin, and every other makeup I've tried makes me itch after a couple hours and get zits the next day. AND most of them turn orange after a few hours. No telling how much money I've spent on makeup just to throw it away. The Arbonne stuff is pretty expensive, but it stays the same color all day, doesn't make me itch, and doesn't break me out. I know I sound like a commercial, and I don't wear makeup often, but after almost 40 years of having to let my bare face hang out, it's nice to be able to wear it for special occasions. So don't make the mistake of avoiding good people or good products just because of one hard sell rep. You might miss something great.

Most of the Arbonne sellers are VERY pushy.
This is how they train 'em!
They especially will go after you if you are an esthetician or massage therapist.

They are very much an "Amway".

The products are (IMO) just awful for the most part.
They claim that they are all "natural" but the truth is far from that....especially with the added fragrances. blech :irked:

But I am surprised by the fact that Clinique made your list. I don't normally use it but was given a free jar of their Moisture Surge lotion and was impressed with the way it made my skin feel. Should I not use it? I've used Alba's Sea Plus Renewal cream for years and have always like it.

I know! I was so surprised!
I don't have a clue as to why a lot of my "bad skin" people are clinique users. However, most of them are the mature over 40 type. I suspect it has less to do with the product than the inappropriate product.
What they do have in common is the use of the toners and the moisturizer -the yellow one, and their cleansing bar.
The newer clinique products DO seem to be milder and have more active ingredients. So - read the ingredients and know what you are using and why and you should be just fine.
FWIW - the younger ones seem to do just fine on clinique.
As for Mary Kay and Arbonne - I just meant the skin care products NOT the makeup.

Ok the problem here is that I'm firmly in the over 40 group!! When I was "young" I couldn't afford Clinque.

I put Origins and Aveda in similar categories. From the outside the product looks really great - all-natural and everything - but from the inside the ingredients are really harmful in a lot of the products.

I used to use Arbonne's Night creme on my face because I had such dry sensitive skin. It was so very expensive for such a small amount of product, 1oz. I actually returned it once because it had such a large are bubble there was hardly any product in it. My skin was so sensitive to most products that I had to keep using it sparingly even though it was so expensive.

The consultant had told me about the high quality ingredients and I trusted that it was so great. When I really looked at the label, I felt so betrayed that I had been putting this stuff on my face every day and it had Parabens in it. Research shows parabens showing up in breast cancer tumors.

Soon after I switched to Lemongrass and used their body creme on my face, I've had great results and it's like $16 for 4oz instead of $80 for 1oz.
And it works better it's improved my skin that would normally be read irritated and flaky and the ingredients, well there's only 4 ingredients if you get the unscented version and 5 if you get the original.

Body Creme
Aloe Vera Gel, jojoba oil, Almond Oil, evening primrose oil and fragrance unless you get the unscented.

I guess I went a little on a tangent there. I don't usually use the body creme in massage, unless i'm doing char massage and just massaging hands. I use the Chocolate Body Butter for massage that's about 90% shea butter and that's very nice also.

I'm also not a therapist who enjoys icy hot type lotions that burn my hands, even biofreeze drives me crazy if it's on my hands
