Are you introduce to new people by your name, or for what you do?

"Hi Debra, this is my son the doctor."

or

Hi Debra, this is my son David"
Quite the contrary getit.

I think is extremely flattering for that person and it shows the type of person he or she is.

By my name of course. No one has ever introduced me as a flight attendant.

 

[I'm just a girl]

By my name, and if they're telling the person what I do they say, "Hi, this is Liz, and she does blah blah blah."
If they were to introduce me by what I do I would interrupt, and tell them that my name is Liz.

@ Donzi this isn't related to the question, but how many times in a day does some ask you, "Is that your real picture?"

I agree with GetitGirl, it's kind of snobbish to introduce oneself or others by profession, but that's just me.
