Hi, I've just done a two day seminar on Advanced Reflexology Techniques which has been absolutely brilliant. Just wondered if any of you reflexologists out there had been on one of these workshops run by Tony Porter. I'm feeling really inspired and can't wait to use all the new techniques we were shown. Has any one else done any ART training and if so, what did you think of it.

I went to the Oxford School of Reflexology (they have their own website if you want to look it up). It was a two day course over the weekend. Quite intensive but I feel as though I learnt more in those two days than in the year I spent getting my qualification. Tony Porter, the man who took the course was brilliant and extremely knowledgeable about every question we threw at him. If you decide to do an ART course would definately recommend one that he takes. ART have their own website too if you want a look, it's something like artreflex.com. The way Tony teaches involves going in very deep on the reflexes (which can be very painful). It's difficult to describe but if you want to do any advanced reflexology training, I would definately recommend this one. Let me know if you go on the course as would be really interested to know what other people think.

Hello,noticed you message about advanced reflexology.Did not like the sound of your course with Tony Porter as you mentioned (it can be quite painful). I would not really like to offer any client something that hurt and really is it necessary?Can't imagine anyone wanting to come back. [sm=sad2.gif]

I suppose it depends what your clients want from their treatment. What Tony teaches is clinical reflexology which relies on going deep on the reflexes to feel their texture. Where there is an energetic disturbance it usually coincides with the symptoms the clients presents. A lot of people looking for reflexology to give them an hours relaxation would not like this. A lot of my clients wouldn't, however, if you have a client that is looking for relieffrom their symptoms and treat specific conditions and get results, then this is the one.
