Arthritis in fingers!!

hey guys,
I recently qualified in ITEC reflexology and am finding the experience of working on people very daunting. I had a woman today looking for it to help arthritis in her fingers....any idea what reflexes would help it? obviously the arm and spine i think...or should you even work on someone with arthritis??? ahhhhh so much still to learn!![]

Try all the detoxifying areas - kidneys, liver etc and include the para/thyroid (this person may have too much calcium in the blood). I don't know if you are able to give dietry advice but that may need a referral to an expert.
Hand exercises too. Why is this person coming to you for her feet when it's her hands that need the treatment? She's distancing herself and can't handle it perhaps. After a few treatments, when she is more accommodating, I may be time for that referral to another therapy.

I have some ladies who are coming to me for aromatherapy for arthritic conditions and we have been experimenting with oils which have anti-inflammatory properties e.g German Chamomile, Benzoin, Black pepper, Patchouli etc.

One lady has noticed a great difference in the swelling in her knuckles but I also finish off with some Reiki in that area too and have noticed the heat generated is amazing. I sometimes think I should just try stick to the aromatherapy to see if that is what gets the result but as long as we are getting a result anyway don't want to change too much in the treatment.

If you don't do aromatherapy then I would stick with what Mysterious Me has suggested.

Hi Bombshell! It's a few months since your post and I just read it as I am researching how reflexology might help a lady who has arthritic hands. It looks like you were given some very useful advice, and I'm wondering how the course of treatment went? Did you see a great improvement?

Also has anyone else reading this thread had success with arthritis in hands?
