Been asked several times for happy endings or other erotic services when people respond to my ads and frankly I am getting sick and tired of men assuming that a Licensed massage therapist and a prostitute are the same thing! I was thinking a phone call from their local police might straighten out their thinking. Has any other massage therapist done this?

Welcome to massage. This is one of the hundreds of reasons I quit. You and I aren't prostitutes, but you would be shocked at how many "legitimate", licensed practitioners are.

Google your name. You may be listed without your permission in an online directory under "erotic massage". Don't advertise on Craig's List. No legitimate client checks there. The best way to advertise is through your own web site.

I have reported solicitors to the police, but they didn't do anything about it. Most police departments are stretched way beyond capacity and don't have the time. Law enforcement has seen so much prostitution in massage that they also equate the two. I have personally worked with several police departments in different towns and know they don't respect the massage business.

It's just a bad situation with little you can do about it except find a more respected path for your life.

Here's the problem, they are ASKING. It really depends on their wording as to how much the police would do. If you report it to the police they may just pass it off, depending on the wording. The best thing to do would be to put a statement that you don't do "erotic or adult massages, and any requests will be passed to the police as solicitation". That would stop most of them, and the rest would already be warned that you aren't going to take it with a sense of humor.

You seem surprised that a prostitute would pose as a massage therapist! Happens all the time. It is a perfect cover - and very hard for the police to bust them. You can contact the police - but you would have to prove that their statements were more than a joke. Such as money offered, etc. I agree with "wizjp" post a disclaimer - and inform them that you will contact the police for their actions. Keep a log of the contacts - and if they contact you a second time turn them if for harassment.

It's your legal right to do so. It's up to the police to act or not. I would also like to recommend to you that you clearly state your policy regarding such activities in all of your advertising.

yes you can, i had this happen to a friend of mine she lived in the state of florida and this gentleman kept asking for the "favors". she not only contacted the police but also the internet service that he was using. hope this helps

Why not just add a disclaimer to your ads that any requests for services of an adult nature will be referred to law enforcement up front as it were.
