Atheists: At what age should children be introduced to religions?

At some point in their young lives, they will need to know that many people have weird ideas and will try to influence them to weird beliefs, rituals and acts.

How best to protect our children?

Teach them early. If not, they'll not know whats all in the world and think whatever they hear first. Broaden their mind before hand...Or else they'll be all confused like me at 14 :/

Kids won't understand the world around them, their culture, history, politics, and so on if they are ignorant about religion. Western culture is incomprehensible apart from knowledge of the Abrahamic faiths, in particular, Christianity.

At what age should children be introduced to atheism? After they understand their roots, which aren't atheistic. Atheism benefits no one, as far as being informed of the world around them goes.

Ignorance of Christianity is the formula for ignorant human beings. And this applies to self-professed "Christians" as well.

I'd say 14-15 when they can think for themselves and make their own decisions. I have no problem with religion as long as they don't shove it down my throat.

My little sibling is 7 and knows about God. It doesn't matter what you teach them, eventually they will grow up and make their own decisions.

Before they start going to school. That is where they are likely to be subjected to the influence and indirect pressure from religious nuts.

As soon as they're not children or if they ask, but if they ask they will obviously get a very simplified explanation

I wouldn't mind children getting exposed to the religions at a young age as long as it's fair and balanced. The problem is that there is no such thing as fair and balanced. The moment children step into a church they start getting bombarded with religious propaganda. Furthermore bookstores like Barnes & Noble and Borders actually have a section of Christian books for children.

Most kids in America will never see the inside of a mosque, a synagogue, or a Hindu temple.

When they're mature enough. Maybe about 12 or 13 at the minimum.

Whenever they are capable of analyzing religion and determining for themselves if they should believe what others say.

About the same age as they suspect there is no Santa or Easter Bunny. Around 5 or 6 or in first grade where the kids will freely exchange these ideas.

parents trying to mess up there kids programming is sick. religion preys on people whose lives suck. and its disgusting when parents carry on their disease.

Educate them about different religions and other cultures at an early age.
