I know this is a sensitive subject, but I don't think all one day workshops should be tarred with the same brush. I have done a few one day courses with Inspire Massage Workshops, including Indian Head Massage, and due to the tutor being fantastic, and there only being 4 of us on the course, I found that we learnt plenty in one day. I've done other longer courses and not got nearly as much out of them.
Also Inspire have such a great work ethic that their tutors will always take time out to make sure you know what you are doing and they won't give you a certificate until they think you are ready to offer the treatment in a safe way - even if that involves you going back and doing the workshop again, at their own cost.
Although in one day they don't cover the Anatomy stuff, they do point you in the direction of what you need to learn so that you can study it in your own time and they give you plenty of support after the course has taken place.
And most importantly - they don't give you a practitioners certificate for being on a one day course unless you have already got an Anatomy and Physiology qualification. There are insurance companies out there who would insure people after just a one day course, but the fact that Inspire insist on the A&P first suggests to me that they really care about the quality of the therapists that they send out into the workplace, as I'm sure they lose business because of they insist on the A&P, as so many people getting into massage therapy just want the quickest and cheapest route in.
Despite running one day workshops, Inspire isn't the cheapest or quickest way in, but I am convinced it is one of the best as I have them to thank for inspiring me and increasing my ability and my confidence enough for me to set up my now successful massage practice. I wasn't lucky enough to have tutors like them when I first started studying and I honestly believe if Annalisa Zisman and the rest of the guys there hadn't got involved in my training when they did, I would probably still be working in my dead end job in a bank now!
