The Department of Ayurveda has refuted reports claiming that only male masseurs will be allowed to provide massages for men at ayurvedic spas in Sri Lanka.

The Aruna newspaper had reported that the Ayurveda Department was working on introducing new regulations, including allowing only females to massage females and males to massage males.

However, issuing a statement, the Commissioner of the Ayurveda Department Professor M.D.J. Abeygunawardena refuted the report.

Stating that the report, which had quoted him, was false, he added that it was regrettable to see such false news being reported at a time when the Ayurveda Department was working on strengthening its regulations. (NewsWire)
