Back across the boarder

DUI check points for people returning from TJ are nothing new. However, getting stopped on the way to the car isn't something one hears about.

I saw them detain some military guys one weekend night. I think I was crossing around 1 or 2am....why I was walking and what I was doing has escaped me....I think it was a weekend night...I hear the officer ask,¨are you military?

There needs to be some type of police presence outside the border on weekend and holidays, as there are often fights with the kids, gangbangers etc. Sometimes it is bad like 7 against one, and each one is trying to prove how tuff he is to the other 6 while they kick the guy when he is beaten down.

I always try to get past the trolley part pretty damn quick.

Something after making it pass the gauntlet of corrupt TJ cops and think you're scott free, you get stopped by the SDPD or Highway patrol, and get busted for being drunk. { it's a shame these guys don't accept bribes either}

In the past and I don't know if they are still doing it as I rarely go to Tijuana on weekends in the winter months. The California Highway Patrol would set up check points on the freeway on ramp and check some people for drunk driving. Other people were so scared of this that they took the San Diego trolley in order to bypass the possible sobriety possible check point.

I have not heard of the Police in San Diego just stopping people randomly walking to their cars for the hell of it, as that could bring up Fourth Amendment issues as the police in the US need probable cause to detain you. The threshold isn't very high, but they need something, perhaps somebody in your party was falling down drunk?

I went to tj for new years and my friend and I had quite a few drinks. When we crossed the boarder customs let us through just fine. Then as we are walking to our car we got stopped by San Diego's finest and were detained. They stopped many people that night. Now here is my question. Did they do this just because is was New Years or have they got more strict? I come across the boarder way more bombed a few times and I've never had a problem. Any info would be great.
