Hi all
My husband has TOC (Thoracic Outlet Syndrome), We found this out about 7 years ago, instead of going with the surgery my husband quit his job and found different work, it seems to help. About a year ago his Back started acting up this time it was his lower back. He went back to the doctors and all they did was give him a life time supply of pain meds ( 2 prescriptions a year, come back if you run out) To me this made no sense, it was like here become a addict and when you need more just call. Well my husband started taking the meds and they wasnt helping with the pain so he just delt with it, and stopped with the meds, two months ago he went back to the doctors and told them nothing is helping he really felt he needed to do something so after tests they put him in physical therapy three times a week for 8 weeks. He goes back tomorrow to the doctor, all we have learned is he has a major curviture to the lower spine.
The frustration at nothing being done is overwhelming. My husband is not the type for surgery. Does anyone have any ideas on how to ease the pain somewhat to where he can focus on daily things?
This is what we have tried
physical therapy (only made it worse)
massages (helps but not enough)
heating pads (same as above)
meds (makes him goofy not to mention they are addicting)
