I would like to see someone to check out my back, but I’m not sure who to go to, an osteopath, chiropractor, physio?
I started a new job a few months ago and since then my back has started to hurt, the lower half started to feel like it was compressed and it progressively got worse until I took a few days off work to rest it. It felt better but then I helped a friend move house and picking up boxes, etc made it even worse.
I’ve since adjusted my chair at work so that it’s not giving me any more problems. But my back hasn’t completely gone back to normal, I still get the feeling in my lower back, not as bad as before, but it does worry me.
Also, apart from these recent problems, my back kills me when I do certain things, if I have a day of housework, after a couple of hours I can barely stand in one place, the middle is really sore and it feels muscular rather than skeletal. It’s a good excuse for not doing any more housework but I also have the same problem if I’m doing physical work.
I used to do yoga, and would like to go back to it, but not sure it’s wise if my back isn’t right. Also wondering whether Pilates or Alexander Technique would be better to strengthen my back muscles?
Any advice from would be much appreciated! I’m nervous of going to see someone and I don’t know the difference between an Osteopath and a Chiropractor.
