Hi guys,

I read some of the previous threads about radio advertising, and it seemed a very mixed response of success and failure. I was wondering, for those who did it successfully, what was the content of your ad? I'm looking for ideas, because I have NO idea what to put in a radio ad. I'm not really sure how to advertise massage in a radio media.

I have done a variety of radio ads, and I have had good results only when I recorded the ad myself. The ad sales people told me this would happen - that the change in voice slightly perked listeners attention.

I dont remember the content of the one ad that was by far most successful :S but I know I had a horrible horrible cold so my voice was reallly low (which everyone said sounded sooo relaxing...go figure) and they dubbed some quiet native american flute music in the background. I'll admit the ad sounded great, and I got a lot of calls from it. Sorry I can't help more with content.

I do remember it started off right away with a question - Like "Do you have sore and aching muscles?" or "Are you looking for that perfect Christmas gift?" That seemed to get people attention.

Talk slow, they edit out the spaces between sentances and breathes, and smile when you are saying it - it comes through you voice that you are smiling.

This is such timely information. My merchant's association is doing a bunch of radio ads for the holidays with the most popular independent station and supposedly at today's meeting they're going to talk about how member businesses can get radio ad time in conjunction with it.

Even though I'd heard that radio was generally bad for advertising massage, I decided to remain open minded. This thread has helped, and thanks for the information about how to do the ad. Any more would be appreciated.

So here's what I can get:

15 second commercial that "piggybacks" after a 30 second commercial aired by my merchants association for one week leading up to and advertising their annual tree lighting ceremony.

Airs:
Thurs - 3 times
Fri - 4 times
Sat - 4 times
Sun - 4 times
Mon - 4 times

Total: 19 times

They will interview me, write it, and produce it. If I want to speak it myself so it's my voice, they can do that.

In addition, they will distribute my marketing materials with their street team and on their table at events... for how long, I don't know. "Until we run out of them" was what the sales rep said Here, I will keep mailing them to you then. ;-)

I am totally thinking about this. Any opinions, good advice? My name is going to go up at 18th & Castro this month for a year, and I want to really start getting my name out there in conjunction with that.
