This is my first time here and i want to share my experience! In June this year i started a tingling in my left hand, this progresses in to a numbness and weakness of the arm, 2 weeks later. By the end of july, I was dragging my left foot, no pain as such, extremely tired. I went back to work afther the holidays, managed 2weeks before a through my back out (due to over-compensating for wonky leg). Waited 5 weeks for MRI scan, where they told me that I had a disc compressing onto my spine. I was relieved at first as the Drs thought I has MS. They told me I would have to get the disc removed urgently, so they transfered my files to another hospital and new consultant, who is telling me I have to wait 2MONTHS for a consultation with him, never mind the wait for the operation.
I am 40yrs with two young children to look after. I can't dress myself, wash or cook and housework is out of bounds. I can't drive anymore, standing or sitting is uncomfy. I am so depressed.

Hi new member, I can only comment on what my brother-in-law went through. He too had a disc removed after the horse he was riding threw him off then the horse fell, and landed on his back. He also had to wait many weeks, on lots of medication for the pain, unable to sleep etc.

However 18 months on, he his back to riding, and life seems very normal to him now. So please have hope, and all the best.

If money allows, one option os to pay to see the Consultant privately, then asked to be transferred to his NHS list for the operation. This speeds up the process by skipping the initial wait. You can generally get an appt for a private consultation within a week or two. Generally around £150, plus any X-rays (about £150-200).

In the meantime, how about seeing a Chiropractor or Osteopath, or even having some Reiki?
