I have had one bad check. I received the notice from my bank just minutes after the client left my office from her second appointment and had written a check. I called her and she apologized and said "Oh, is that what that negative balance meant? I didn't understand it." Okay, so I thought perhaps her husband had written a big check or made a withdrawal that she had no idea about. She said she would drop the cash by my office to cover the bounced check and the check she had just written and i should destroy the check she wrote today. A few days later (after a second reminder call) she dropped the cash off, including the $8 fee the bank charged me (stupid me for not having a $25 charge for this) but the cash was MINUS THE $15 GRATUITY that had been included in the 2 checks !!!!!!! She included a note that apologizing for not including the gratuity, but that she would have that at her next appointment, which by the way she went on to say she had to cancel. I called her several times to reschedule it and she always had some excuse why she couldn't reschedule. If she ever does call again for another appointment, I would like to tell her that I don't want her as a client, but she can send the 15 bucks! And get this...........she was a massage therapist!!!!! She is no longer in the business because of injury.
