Bar Closure Days!

I looks as it MTB is closed as the Web Cam is stuck on closing hour the 13th while in a bout 30 min we'd see the 14th...

What holidays will have a closed bar for the remainder of the year?
from July 14 on?????

Aug 12...Great Fireworks show that night, I've been told!

and......
I've at least one more tour after Aug...probably a long Nov visit,
and would like to know which nights I can plan for diving the next day?

Very nice that ThanksGiving is a holiday...Now, If we could only get July 4th on the list....Many Many places, Udon Thani, Chang Mai have very big U.S. Independace Day celebrations, Pattaya had
an unofficial parade of drunken falangs of all nations on Walking Street after the Big Bash at FLB.

i knew about the Queen's Birthday, but the HRH The Crown Prince's Birthday sounds new to me.
I will arrive in Patong the same day (July 28) and i'm worried to spend my first night with all the bars closed. Is it true this fact?

Loy Krathong is definately not a holiday, it's a national celebration but people work as normal.

Christmas Day is not a National Holiday. Why would it be? some farang companies close, but Thai companies work. I take Christmas Day off as leave.

Thanksgiving is not a National Holiday here. Why would it be?

Neither is Halloween, not a national holiday anywhere as far as I know?

Obviously farang owned bars will have special evenings on these nights, but they are not National Holidays.

The only National Holidays left this year are:

Aug 12
Oct 23
Dec 5
Dec 10
Dec 31

*Reference the holidays list as published by my firm. Other companies list different holidays, for example a large American Multinational here gives Christmas Day off as a holiday, but NOT Thanksgiving.

And that doean't mean the bars will close. Dec 31 of course they are open it's a celebration. And of course bars can close on days when they are not holidays, for example the Crown Prince's birthday (though I've heard no conformation of this)

btw I drank in Bangkok non stop over the two (bars closed) holidays we just had. It is NOT law, it is a police request. The bars owned by Thai and particularly the girlie bars close out of respect. A few select farang owned establishmenats are left alone and do not close. I spent many hours in 3 of them. It also matter which police district you are in as well. Lumpini is known to be stricter than Thong Lor.

We only close on buddhism holidays to respect Buddha and not drink alcohol, and to celebrate the queen or king on their birthdays.

However, the bar was open yesterday, we closed only one day this year, we got permission to do so. Last year we had to close two days.

Soi Seadragon were closed yesterday thought, they close more often than required by the police.

OK .. this is the only one that's gonna stick me .. Piyamaharaj Day (October 23). Are all sorts of fun closed or just the gogo bars? What about the dance clubs and massages? Damn, I can't miss a day!

It is also known as Chulalongkorn Day, the celebration of Thailands most revered King. Rama V. Phrabat Somdet Phra Chulachomklaochaoyuhua.

This great King enjoyed a whiskey or two.

In Bangkok particularly you will see many many picture of him. Many will be up high with a samll shot of whiskey and foos in front of him. Many of the bangkok bars have large paintings of him, notably Dali in Soi 33.

I do not think the bars close on this day, though I must admit, I can never remember from year to year what days the bars close/open, I can always get a drink somewhere if I am in BKK, and if I am in HKT I don't care. Plus living here it's no big deal.
