Dear Bros,
i will be going to phuket next week from 12 AUg, i understand that 12 Aug is the Queen's birthday. i'm just wondering if the bars are open on 12 Aug n 15 Aug? As i was told that the bars are also closed on 15Aug. Anyone here can advice on this? Many thanks in advance.

On 12th all business selling alchool will be closed to let thais
drink it and celabrate at home without going ouside.:
And also to let thais working in banks or government offices to
drink and have fun on 11th night without worry to go working
next day.
I think this is the best gift that the queen could give to them !

But surely there will be some tourists that couldnt understand that!
But this would only be because tourists here don't fully appreciate

don't recall bars closing last year at the same time, big concert was held over 3 days at the back of jungceylon, is the same thing on again this year, i saw a huge all in brawl there last year,also there was a side show ally at the back of the main seforum.xxxe area and gambling was going on out in the open without any effort to hide it at all, i wonder if gambling is exempt for the queens b'day, did happen to win a few bob that night. guess majortom has it right with the gazette link.

12th Always was a closure.. I remember it going back years closed on mothers day / Queens B Day as its Otts birthday also..

This year is odd.. Lots of closed bars along Nanai.. Offshore closed this morning and they wouldnt be closed unless police contact told them too.. so it seems police comment to paper and police to bars may not be the same.. Given the Gazette piece maybe they are letting Bangla go ??

A group of friends that hardly ever go out have called me and want to hit up Patong however I and others have had reports that bars around are closed except for a few however not sure about Bangla. Anyone got some info now that it is past 7pm??

Maybe it was the MiB using the Phuket Gazette to feed disinformation so they could go round and nick the bars that opened. It would be interesting to see if the same article was printed in the local Thai press!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Call me a cynic but I am!

Every single bar was shut this evening in Lala, could get the coffee cup beer in the restaurants but at least half those were also shut.

Still got a busy day tomorrow, so probably a good thing!!!

Most of Bangla was open last night. The only one's closed were Soi Eric, beer bars in Soi SeaDragon (all of Raw's places were open). Not sure about Soi Easy as I didn't see it. Tiger, Lion, Crocodile, Gonzo and beer bars on Bangla were all open.

The head is hurting today..... too many Jagerbombs (Thanks to Maichob and Lightemup.......)
