Bars with live music?

I love live music - especially really bad cover bands. I remember a few years back in St. Vincent I heard this band where it was obvious that the singer did not understand a word he was singing. It was a blast!

Are there any bars with bands like that in Patong?

Their a few live music options & the bands are mostly pretty good - Phillipino's apparently. Margarita on the corner of Bangla & R-U-T was the one I liked best, ABC further down Bangla. Tai Pan has some ealy on on some nights but not sure which.

Rock City Phuket and opposite it as well the open fronted one where Shark used to be.

You've also got the 'Irish' pubs: Scruffy Murphys on Bangla, Molly Malones and Finnigans on Beach Road. Also several others on the Beach Road.
Rock City is by far the best and therefore not what you are looking for!
Any band with a Thai singing in English will generally be pretty awful, so plenty to choose from....

Tommas, the German guy who sings at Taipan on some nights as you say, has opened a new and very different bar in Kamaml called Magic Garden.
He's still getting started but he has plenty of cold beer. Singha and chang on draft too.
No happy hour but beer is only 50 or 60 anyway. 70 for a big Archa.
Next to the Kamala Snake Show in the traffic light soi with Ooh la la and 7-eleven on the corner.
Sort of behind Mam's restaurant (great food) and the new G1 hotel.

most of the big restaurants on the beach road have bands with singers who dont know the words...funny for a while...the guy who does the elvis impersonater outside the banana can be very funny when he is around

I hear them rehearsing sometimes in the day when try to enjoy a quiet book on my balcony. Grrr.

Must be quite loud for those in that new G-1 place.

there was 2 in soi dragon that were great entertainment, but cant confirm if they are there after the renovations, but the names were/ is tums bar and coyote bar, had plenty of good nights in both on many occasions

loads and loads of bars with live music.. most bands playing are thai though.

Rock City is the best, drinks are a bit pricey but the bands are top quality even the Thai singers. The AC/DC cover band complete with Thai Angus Young are really good. Get there early for 2 for 1 cocktails but they do serve till 5am, the place really fills up when the other beer bars close around 2.

dont go there very often but have seen the AC/DC band a couple of times and enjoyed them.
the singer is the son of Harvey James a member of well known aussie rock band Sherbet.
