BEATLE BAR REVIEW- June 2006

THE BEATLE BAR (JACO):

Wingnut and I enjoyed 2 ½ days in Jaco this month in conjunction with our fishing expedition. Up until then, my prior experience with Jaco was limited to a “windshield tour” last year. Besides fishing, the “world-famous” Beatle Bar was another highlight of our time in Jaco.

Upon arrival, we hooked up with our fishing buddy, Stevewxly, who just pulled in from Panama. After looking at several lodging options, we decided to stay at the Hotel Los 4 Grandes adjoining the Beatle Bar. The hotel is appropriately named (The 4 Big Ones) in honor of John, Paul, George and Ringo.

We settled into our bar stools late in the afternoon, and enjoyed meeting other gringo tourists (and regulars) at the bar. The bar is an open-air venue with a large rectangular bar in the center in the center of the floor. There are plenty of tables and chairs in the wings and in the back…and a patio with tables and barbecue out front. The bar kitchen offers good food at reasonable prices…including a 3,000 C all-you-can-eat pasta special. Chef Paul will even grill the fish you catch and serve it to you for lunch with all the trimmings. The décor is an assortment of mid-to-late 60s Beatles regalia. Continuous Beatle and psychedelic-era tunes maintain a spirit of nostalgia for those of us old-enough to remember “flower power,” Woodstock and Viet Nam. Two dynamite gringa bartenders, Neena and Amy, hold down the afternoon shift and are among the most engaging and helpful bartenders I ever met. The cozy, down-home atmosphere of the Beatle Bar is conducive to a lazy afternoon of sipping beers and enjoying the ocean air.

Shortly after 6:00 pm, the first wave of “shock troops” appears…pretty little chicas from all parts of Latin America! Ticas, Columbianas, Dominicanas and Peruvians (to name a few) storm the Beatle Bar in search of gringo company (and Dolares). I estimated 40-50 girls, averaging 6-7 in looks, on our first evening at the Beatle Bar. My initial encounter involved a sweet, young tica with a cute face, nice body and jet-black hair. She accepted $50 for a 1+ hour session back at my room. I ended up very pleased with her enthusiasm and overall performance.

Before entering Round 2 that evening, I scoped out the new talent that stopped by while I was busy in my hotel room. The women far outnumbered the available men by 5 or 6 to 1…it was a buyers’ market. Near the patio, I spotted two very attractive rubias. One in particular caught my eye…a young Columbiana named Manuela. IMHO, Manuela is easily a 9.5…and of course, she knows it. She wanted $100 for an hour, but after some coaxing…and faced with the prospect of going home with no dinero…Manuela reluctantly dropped her price to $80. Before leaving the bar with her, I excused myself to check-in with my wingman. Much to my chagrin, the lovely Columbiana disappeared during my brief absence…more than likely, Manuela found somebody that WAS willing to pay her “cien” for her services. I ended up with a duo…a tall Columbiana and a Peruvian @ $50 each… for some debauched threesome activity throughout the remainder of the night. The wake-up call for fishing the next morning arrived too soon!

After a day of fishing, the Beatle Bar was a welcomed refuge on Day #2. I was feeling a little tired, and did not know whether I had the energy to make it through another 3-chica night. Around 6:15 pm, I noticed a pretty Dominicana, who was one of the first chicas to show up for the night shift. Breeshanna (sp?) noticed me, too. She sauntered over to my side and asked me if I wanted company to which I replied, “Of course…”

Before retiring to the room, Breeshanna and I accompanied my two amigos to El Hicano…a very nice restaurant…for dinner. Upon returning to the Beatle Bar, I noticed that there was the same number (and quality) of chicas as the previous night. Although Breeshanna, initially looked very hot and enthusiastic, her one-hour performance, IMHO, was mediocre. I paid her $50 and crashed for the remainder of the night.

On the other hand, my amigo, Wingnut, had much better luck than me on our second night. Wingnut enjoyed a well-deserved TLN with a cute, young tica from SJ. Scuttlebutt has it that he is planning another rendezvous with her over Labor Day.

The next day, Wingnut and I parted company with Stevewxly over lunch at the Beatle Bar. Chef Paul grilled our tuna and dorado to perfection. (see pictures in VIP Gallery Scenic Photo and VIP members’ photo sections).

I enjoyed my first visit to Beatle Bar, and plan to spend another couple of nights there on my next fishing trip in Jaco. The Beatle Bar provides good value for the money I spend. The bar is a fun experience with a friendly, helpful staff and a convivial atmosphere. The selection, quality and pricing of available talent is more than likely a function of the season. Although it is the green season, I was quite pleased at the availability of chicas and pricing at the Beatle Bar. :

Thanks for the review there, it helps me to visualize what I am getting into at the Beattle Bar. I am heading there right before Labor Day weekend, so perhaps some other CRTers will be down there as well. The current ratio there sounds quite nice :twisted:

Xman and I are still kicking ourselves for not making a planned trip to Jaco this time. Loved the Beatle Bar on my first trip back in November of 2004 (much prefer the ambience there to the BM), but haven't been back to Jaco since. A couple of those novia vacations to the Pacific in the meantime would probably have been much better spent there....

CONCHCOWBOY: By all means...spend at least one night in Jaco...even if it means grabbing a rental car or bus at the airport and heading straight for Jaco on your three-day trip. Next time in Jaco, I will make it a point to look for the good Doctor's autograph! :twisted:

CRAPS7: The daytime fishing was supposed to be slow, but we did OK...8 dorado and 1 tuna. The night time fishing proved to be outstanding...plenty of "red snapper" literally junping in the boat! :

GETRHYTHM: You and X-man should be kicking yourselves! :twisted: ...next time get the heck out of the gulch for a few days and enjoy the beach. The Beatle Bar is the epitome of 60s kharma and (almost) free love...

Not to get off the topic, but did you get any pescado out there, and how much did the charter cost??

I was there the same time as BlueDevil and can concur with eveything he said. BB was awesome! In the early afternoon it was a quiet spot to stop and grab and ice cold (and I mean there was ice floating in the beer) Imperial, a necessity given the 90 plus temps and humidity, and a night it was crazy. At any time I probably saw 30-40 guys and at least twice as many girls, probably more.

I also enjoyed the more relaxed daytime ambiance that exists in Jaco. After spending several days in SJ, it was a really welcomed change. It was nice to wander the streets looking at the shops and gawking at all the girls wearing nothing but bikini tops and short shorts. Each morning I had a really nice breakfast at Sunrise Breakfast served up by one of the more beautiful ticas I've seen.

I stopped by Thirdworld's internet cafe on several occasions. A nice, clean, and cool spot to check your email and escape the heat for a little bit. The girl at the front desk was very friendly and helpful and another cutie, too. Also, I know that some people on this board have complained about the beach. It's really not that bad. Having grown up on the coast in California, Jaco is certainly no worse than other beachs I've seen. The sand is dark, a product of the lava rock that exists in the area, and it can be a little rocky, but it looked fine to me.

What I did not like about Jaco is all the current construction going on. I saw at least three major projects including a massive 15 story condo complex going up right on the beach. I fear that this is going to destroy the "small town" feel that currently exists.

All in all, Jaco was great and will absolutely be a part of every future trip I make to CR.

I forgot to mention that some of the girls were really aggresive and wouldn't take no for an answer. On the first night I was sitting at the bar when a chica slid up next to me. She looked like a tall version of Sade, certainly not ugly but not my type. She kept pushing to go back to my room and asking for me to buy her a drink. I kept telling her no and at one point I really thought she was going to pop me in the face. The next night I saw her again fairly early in the evening. I felt kind of bad over my treatment so I bought her a couple of drinks and ended up having a nice chat. I just simply wasn't interested because I like my girls teeny, the smaller the better. Sade was probably 5'9", my height. She said I could have her for 40, but no go. She finally understood and we parted on a friendly note. I think she went over to harrass BlueDevil.

Also, like the BM, all the girls started out at cein, but all the girls I was with immediately came down off that number and I paid no more than 60.

Well worth the trip out.

Sorry I missed you Keroseneflat. You´ll have to make it down again. GetRythm, I think you guys were going to ride down with me. But I think maybe you had a lively night the night before. Next time. A side note. If you want to see and possibly intercept the talent before they get to the bars, sit anywhere on Bohio street and you´ll see them come out of the little cabinas to do the stroll to work.

I believe she is the chica who was coached my first girl at the Beatle Bar, the young, sweet tica. I had to separate the tica from her "coach."

We caught 8 dorado and 1 tuna in spite of June 1 being a "slow day" for the other boats. If you want the details on hiring Captain Lupe and his boat, send me a PM.

Had 2 good trips the second week of May. Cought 3 sails 80-85-105lb on the "Who's Up? out of Los Suenos Marina ($850 full day) Also did a half day trip & caught 12 dorado on a trip that Douglas who is/was set up in front of the Paradise hotel set up ($350) I think the boat was the Aliyah, but I'm not sure (26' Panga)
Since it's the rainy season the green water will be out at least 20 miles , you will probably need to book the Who's up or the bigger Who's your Daddy to get out where the sails are otherwise it'll be dorado mostly. Check out the possibility of Roosterfish, but make sure they can find live bait. OR take a couple of chicas with you and get pink snapper if the fishing's slow!
