I'm currently in school for nursing, but I'm only finishing up my prerequisites. I was told I shouldn't have any trouble getting into the January start for my core classes, but since I transfered (due to moving for my husband's job), they've been giving me the run-around. I can't get a straight answer out of anybody and now they're telling me they won't know when I will start my core until I finish my prereqs... If I don't get into the January start I will have to wait at least another year, which I just can't do. I've recently been looking into my options and other schools and programs, just in case things for January don't work out. I looked into massage therapy a couple years ago and gave up on the idea because I didn't think I'd be able to do it due to joint pain in my fingers. Well, I know that licensed massage therapists use techniques that are supposed to avoid causing pain in hands, but would it matter if I already have some joint pain? It's not really bad, but occasional stiffness and aches. I've also given my husband back massages, and I usually have to stop after a few minutes because my hands get tired and sore. Does using the right techniques prevent this?
Also, if you're a massage therapist, I'd like to know how many hours you work in a week, where you work, and how much you make, if it's not too personal. I've looked up the average salary online, and there are drastic differences in what I've found. I'd just like to hear from some real people.
Thanks to those who reply!
