Folks, The King is dead. Del Rey is no longer the premiere place in Costa Rica to pick up girls. The Beetle Bar has made some changes over the last month and I'm here to report, despite my previous opinion, the place ROCKS. I and brother CRGolfer spent some quality time there on Friday the 13th, arriving just a few hours after the earthquake.

First, they did some remodeling. As you walk in the door, the line of stools that used to be against the left hand (north) wall are gone and they built a dance stage with two poles. They also added a DJ booth to the end of the stage near the bathroom entrances. They have advertised heavily for dancers and they hit GOLD. One of the most beautiful girls I've ever seen in Costa Rica was dancing her cute ass off all night. However, they do not get naked and are not there to be taken to your hotel room. They are paid to dance the entire night. The hot one I fell in lust with was 21 and was not interested in anything more than dancing from what I could tell BUT she was a sweetheart and I talked to her several times and she was very nice each time. The dancers also dance inside the VIP (or bottle service) areas, of which there are two, whenever there is a group present. Anyone in those two areas gets a GREAT show.

They also solved both of my biggest complaints. First, there is now much more light! You no longer have to interview a girl to figure out what she looks like. Second, they have a LOT better music with the DJ now and they lowered the volume so talking to a chica or your CRT brother is now possible.

The talent last night was like nothing I've seen in four years living in Costa Rica. I'm pretty picky and usually only look at slim girls but there were a multitude of 'athletic' girls that I found myself drawn to because most were simply BEAUTIFUL. On a normal night, I might see 10 girls in Del Rey I like. I saw perhaps 40 last night in the Beetle Bar. Also, there were hardly any 'dogs'. Almost like they were turning ugly girls away at the door. In all, I'd estimate between 100-150 girls were present at any given time.

They are charging a $10 cover charge for guys now and you get a receipt stamped with the municipality stamp so they have resolved the legal/tax issues that caused them to quit the cover a few months back. However, I have to say I think it was worth it! I wouldn't pay $10 to get in Del Rey OR Sportsmen's (granted, totally different types of venues) but with the music, dancers and overall quality of the girls, it was a small price to pay to enter the Beetle Bar. The security was abundant, a sure way to NOT have problems because of the show of force. DO NOT start any shit with anyone because even if he doesn't kick your ass, sure security would.

One thing, this was a Friday night and was told by some locals that you should really ask to look inside the door (which they will allow) before paying your $10 cover charge as some nights are slow, again according to locals who should know. I would guess, and advise, Beetle Bar is probably the place to be on weekends but perhaps DR or SL is better during the week. Most of the girls I met came from the San Jose area...

Downside is the girls ask for more money. However, both guys that pulled girls did so for $80 even though they started out at $120. But the hottest girl in the place, a 5' 90lbs. Tica with blonde hair, blue eyes, an exquisite face and 32D tits who I was convinced was Colombian started out asking for $200 and hate to say, she probably got it before the night ended. The other two girls I ask both said $150 and they too were very very hot... And no, I am still on my 'not paying for sex' tour of 1 year 7 months so no good details to share

In closing, I never liked the Beetle Bar but now it has vaulted to my most recommended place to find girls in Costa Rica at least on a Friday or Saturday night.

I liked the Beatle Bar the way it was 5 or 6 years ago. Plenty of decent-looking women with the odds in favor of the guys. BB always had decent drink deals during the afternoons and a dinner special just before the girls started showing up at 6 pm.

Is the conveniently-located Los 4 Grandes motel still in operation? Rooms could be had for $30 US per night, and many rooms were occupied by the girls who worked next door at the Beatle Bar.

Yeah, I liked the Beatle Bar when I first went to Jaco, back in 1999. There was a small Hooters restaurant/bar across the street. The Beatle Bar was 'hit or miss'. I remember one night a Tico was trying to 'sell/rent out' his sister :shock: The banos there were quite gross then. Had a few fun nights in the Disco La Central. They let you buy Ron Centenario by the bottle, at your table. One night, I went in the bano about 2:00, and there was blood all over the place. I guess a knife fight had broken out between a couple of Ticos.

The Beetle Bar is seasonal. Now is the start of the off season. The girls call it the Gringo Season. The girls go there for the gringos who go there to fish. When the fishing slows the gringos stop showing. The girls then look to San Jose, the Del Rey for customers. Try out the Beetle Bar on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday night, the nights they don't charge a cover charge for the girls or guys to get in and see if you would rather be there or in the Del Rey. Many of the hottest women can be found at the Beetle Bar, but it is a long way to go to find out the girls didn't show up the days you plan to be there. It is the only show in town. The blonde 32b that the writer described sounds familiar. I know one who fits the description who just returned from Jaco tonight and told me she plans to work the Sportsman's and Rey this week because the customers were not in Jaco. Women are where you find them. The Rey is still King in Costa Rica. I was there an hour ago and found the hottest spinner I have seen in years. 22 years old, Tica, second generation Rey worker. She said her mother is 33, knows she is there, and her mother and sister work there, too. Mother had her when she was 11. The Sportsman's was full of guys and a half dozen girls. The guys watching the playoff game. There were several girls fairly new to the SL. Okay for a Sunday night.

Took me an extra day to chime in on PVT's report and back his opinion with a few of my own details.

It has been a long time coming and a big time change to see the Beetle Bar in that condition. Living here full time and having passed through Jaco many times I have always held an opinion of "damn, I HATE Jaco." I live in a beach community about 2 hours north of Jaco and after several horrible experiences in Jaco years ago I just stopped going.

Well things change! First, two weeks ago I stopped in Jaco for lunch and to pick up a friend who now owns a little restaurant and hostel. I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to exit my car and walk the remaining 300 meters to the restaurant and was NOT approached by anyone selling cociane AND my car was not robbed for the 700 to 800 Colones worth of coins in the cup holder. This right away was a MAJOR improvement over visits a few years ago!

I also find it a little funny that even talking with brother PVT on the phone at about 3:30 pm on a Friday we both say the same thing, "I HATE Jaco" and both with a sense of passion. I was going back and forth between getting in the car and driving to Jaco or San Jose for the weekend as my plans had fallen apart and I was now to be at home with no much on the agenda.

Well, history is done.... I made the 2 hour drive to Jaco... and I am so GLAD that I did!!!!

Hotel Cocacabana:
Room was nice, I put it on a level with a standard room at La Amistad. Bar was okay, I did not stick around much to comment on the talent. Although there were a few people at the all nude pool Saturday afternoon.

Beetle Bar:
I found myself repeating over and over to PVT that I was fully impressed with the bar set-up, music, ambiance, talent level, etc of the place. There were FAR more very good looking women in the Beetle Bar than I have EVER seen in one entire weekend at DR. And better than that it was easy to dissect a woman for her attitude and potential performance in a few moments. Lighting was good enough to see what you were really getting and the music was at just the right level were you could talk a bit.

I made a pull when I really did not think I would. Standing at the bar with PVT watching one of the best looking Tica's I have ever seen dance on the feature stage (more on this chica later..... PVT you may not want to read much further brother).

"Susan" is doing her rounds of the bar and we exchange smiles as she nears. Cute face, nice smile, and an ass she knew how to use when on the dance floor. "Susan" stops to shake her ass a bit and gets me involved. We dance for a little bit and I offer to buy here a drink and get my interview process started. To my pleasant surprise she wants a bottle of water, saying she does not drink. Good start, she may not be just a crazy drunk chica looking for rent money. Make the decision to take her back to the hotel and tap PVT on the shoulder to say I am on my way out. Back to the hotel "Susan" gives a great performance with no rush. I enjoyed her company and would likely call her and hang out with her for the night and party a bit the next time I am back to Jaco (yes I did just say the next time I am in Jaco). Got her number and will call her again. "Susan" left and in taking her to the front desk I notice PVT is hanging out with another hotel guest enjoying the evening.

I mentioned to PCT and the other gentleman that I am headed back the Beetle Bar and see what happens. Well, it is just after 2:00 am and they are closing the place down. At this time I see my friend I mentioned earlier, the one who own's the restaurant, coming out of the bar with a few chicas in tow. My buddy is Tico and we know each other from a couple of business ventures not from a P4P setting so I am a little shy that I have been seen outside the Beetle Bar at 2:00 am. Buddy invites me down to Monkey Bar with he and his friends.

The friends included the Tica that was dancing on the stage at Beetle Bar earlier. The same one who as has been mentioned by PVT as being one of the most beautiful and one of the most amazing bodies I have seen in my lifetime.

Night went well we were all at Monkey bar until about 3:30 am and then went to a Mexican restaurant near the Best Western until the sun started to come up.

Made plans with my buddy and his friends that we would go to Hermosa in a few hours to hang at the beach and he and I would do some surfing. After waking up at about 11:00 I checked out of Cocacabana as I would stay the night at my friend's house just a couple of hundred meters away on the beach.

PVT, if you thought the girls dancing was hot and looked good in Beetle Bar..... you should have seen her in her bikini. I got the honor to rub her down with oil on two different occasions!

Cannot end this report with any victory story about picking her up, but I do have her phone number and I can report that I did get a couple of text messages from her saying hello and asking if I was still in Jaco and would I be coming out with them again tonight? Unfortunately I had to come home on Sunday afternoon so my answer was no. We will see what happens but there is an idea that she may come visit me on Tuesday night!

All in All:
WAY impressed with the changes to Beetle Bar and the talent level was OUTSTANDING! Agree with Pop's 2 cents about it being fishing seasons but also will add that it is just a different atmosphere than SJ and some of the girls just seem to like the different music and setting.

Cocacabana, would stay again.... don't have the same feelings for it like I do SL but I would likely not stay anywhere else in Jaco. Not sure and after only a few moments looking I was not able to confirm or deny if the CRT discount waives the guest fee but was surprised to pay a $20 chica fee and further surprised that the late night front desk attendant made me pay in cash as I check the girl in with me.

Always have been a fan of and have done well at the Beatle Bar. This is an interesting development to mingle a strip club with a take out hooker bar... If it attracts hotter chicas on the P4P side, which has been reported here thats a good thing. And if you can actually dance with your prospect a little before the dance in the cama that's even better.

This is an interesting development to mingle a strip club with a take out hooker bar...

Don't want anyone to get the wrong idea. The BB isn't a strip club in any way, more like an El Pueblo venue with working girls. Pole dancers are clothed, some of it pretty sexy but still, clothed and nothing is removed on stage. Working girls don't dance on stage although some will come up and dance/grind on you a bit to 'sell the package' but not much more than that.

And if you can actually dance with your prospect a little before the dance in the cama that's even better.

You are welcome to dance with your chica first, but there is no dance floor, just the space you make for yourself. Actually, CRG turned it into a sorta private techno club for himself and his chica and that man can dance 8) 8)

Just a little speculation and I don't want to start a rumor, but have heard they are doing the pole dance thing so they can justify charging a hefty cover again. Now, while I personally don't like paying covers, I don't see by what right authorities can stop them from doing so. I am going to do a recon mission there later in the week and check things out for myself..

I haven't been down to the BB in Jaco, but my favorite incarnation was the first one in the hole in the wall down from where they moved later (where the second incarnation of the NY Bar was.) That was the first December I spent in CR and I ended up dancing most of the night away often there. That must have been around '97 or '98.
