Best antivirus possible.

I have the Microsoft security essentials antivirus (Free) and the Malwarebytes (Paid). They protect me from many attacks but still get trojans or some stupid viruses here and there. The latest being "Wrl3064.tmp".

I googled it and there were advice on how to delete it but too complicated for me.


What is the best antivirus protection out there. I am willing to pay.


PS. Those stupid porn sites do get to me, ever youporn and jizzporn which they sat to be virus free attack me.

The truth is they all have strengths and weaknesses, and they tend to leapfrog each other daily/weekly with the protections they offer, so there's no complete answer. My real suggestion... and I know there will be many who will disagree, but... buy a MAC. I've never installed any sort of AV product on my MAC in the 2 years I've owned it, and I've never had a virus or a trojan, or any other type of malware.

yeah Mishi, count yourself lucky. I've heard many stories about apple products being hacked and getting virus' etc.

Whatever the OP does, don't go anywhere Norton anything. Unless of course you are thinking of upgrading to a 6 core processor and expanding your ram 2 fold....norton is a HUGE resourse hog.....If you have a duo core processor 1.5 of those cores will be consumed by norton. Kind of silly to install norton since it doesn't leave much room for actual computing......

I need to renew my virus protection...according to chunkys website, BitDefender Antivirus Plus is the best one out there. I ve never heard of it. Tboy's recommendation is to avoid norton. SO ....which protection should i buy then? I have a pc laptop computer which i recently purchased 2 mths ago.

I have only used Kaspersky online scanner which has helped me out on a lot of jams, never bought a copy for personal use, but I am willing to bet it should be #1! I have bought and used Trend Micro, very good product, liked how easy it was to install and use! Very good product, my copy expired but for one year I was virus free!
BTW I used Kapersky on line scanner before I had Trend Micro, in case you were wondering lol

Oh, just wanted to mention I used Mmassageplanetee for years until antivirus came with my bell service up here.....never had a problem with Mmassageplanetee and they had a REALLY good spam filter.......

I have to agree with that.

As Tboy and Wino correctly point out that there have been some vulnerabilities and viruses/infections targeting OSX (Mac's OS) but these are very, very, very few compared to Windows aka "Microsoft Bullseye". I've been running this iMac for five years and scanning with ClamXav (free) every month or so always with the latest definitions and it's never found anything. And yes I do surf porn sites on occaision. There are some commercial anti-virus product made by Norton, Mmassageplanetee etc. but seem to not be worth the "cumbersomeness" when weighed against the actual risk of infection. That could change of course.

I'm not what's referred to as an "Apple fanboi" but there's no doubt that OSX (which is "UNIX with a pretty face") is currently a "safer" platform than Windows.

The reason Mac has none or few virus s is because there is not enough of them to waste time attacking! Up until now Mac had about 10% of the operating systems. That number is growing! As that market share gets bigger so do the chances of attack! Btw Mac tries to hide stats on how many virus attacks there are, google it!

There's no doubt some truth in that there are less "targets" out there. Here's an article (albeit four years old) that I believe explains the difference between Windows and OSX security-wise.

Even if any of the above article can be challenged, and although Mac infections are on the rise, I think it's fair to say that they are at present drastically less than Windows. So until the Mac Malware writers catch up with Windows, I'll stick with OSX.

disclaimer - I left Windows long ago so my only recent experience now is with supporting Windows7 for a family member.
