I recently lost my beloved Saab,  :-[ the best car for transporting my Oakworks massage table. Does anyone have any ideas as to good cars for transporting my table? (No high lifting, small trunk, etc.)TIAAaaaah

I drive a Pontiac Vibe because the back seats fold completely flat and the cargo area has tie-downs and plenty of room for table and supplies.  When I bought it GM's incentives were good ($4,000 rebate) and it fits my lifestyle and business very well.  You can see it all inside and out at the GM website.  30 mpg average.

I REALLY want one of the Scion xB's. They may look sorta ugly on the outside (one of those that you have to get used to), but I helped my friend set hers up to be a mobile massage carrying suite. We fit 2 tables and a chair in the middle of the 'trunk' of it (took out the back seat), and made the walls into hanging pocket units so that she can carry her books, creams/lotions, cd player, cd's, basically everything that would make up an office when she got to a client's house.With mine, I'm wanting to be able to fit my table for outcalls, a chair, stool, and tons of speakers and black/neon lights (I'm still a techno kid after about 6 years, lol). I'd like to have one within the next couple of years so that I can use it to draw attention to myself when I'm at the beach, doing chair massage.

touchabilities, great minds think alike! I've got an '05 Toyota Matrix. This car is virtually the same as a Vibe, it was jointly designed by Pontiac and Toyota. It's a Corolla body with a roomy hatchback. My Oakworks CS2 fits perfectly in the trunk  on the 60-side of the 60/40 seats and my sheets and other accessories fits on the 40-side. I am consistently getting 34-36 miles per gallon higway, this is important because I commute to Austin from San Antonio 2X per week for class. I just got the car in November and I've got 8000 miles already!The only difference (aside from color choices)  between the Vibe and Matrix is that the base model Vibe comes with more stuff, and thus costs more, but they pretty much have the same options available. It comes with these incredibly handy nets that can hold almost anything, even groceries when you're not lugging your table around.And there's a guy at my school who moved from Vermont to TX with all of his stuff in his Matrix.Jill

I never even thought of posting a thread like this, but I am definitely in the market for buying a new car.  I have a Honda Civic which I bought pre massage days.  I can BARELY get my table into the back seat, and I keep my chair in the trunk so there really isn't any room for anything else.I've been thinking of up-grading to a Honda CRV or a Saturn Vue in the near future... I will definitely take my table and chair with me to see how much room I have after they are both in the trunk.  I regretted doing that when I bought my civic.  I got it home and loaded everything from my old car into it, put my daughters baby stroller in the trunk and realized that I had to put it lengthwise and didn't have much room after that.  I wasn't too happy.  So now I learned my lesson.  If it can't suit the purpose of what you want it for, then look somewhere else.

For years I fought getting anything bigger than an Escort, and I'm definitely not an SUV person, but a compact sport wagon really does it.  I nearly got a Matrix, too, but the Vibe just captured me.  Seforum.xxxg, my son has a Scion and loves it.  When he came home (down South) from California everyone teased him about his "bread truck." The Scion really grows on you, though; it's practical but so much fun.

Yeah, my friend has a Honda CR-V. And she said it's perfect for lugging her massage table around cause the trunk is very roomy and it opens like a door, which makes it easy to get it in there. I thought about getting one, but personally I like my little Honda Civic!Chrissy

i have both a gmc jimmy and chrysler pt cruiser.the pt is unbelivably roomy. can definitely get 2 tables plus other gear in the back.

Mush,  I have a GMC Jimmy too. I love my car. I affectionately call him Jimmy and for awhile people thought I had a boyfriend named Jimmy. Anyway, he's my first car and I have more room in it than I know what to do with. I don't carry a massage table, but I do have other equipment that fits perfectly in the "trunk" space.

MushI also have a PT Cruiser! My entire business is Mobile and I find that I have TONS of room for my chair, table, bag of extras and bolster/pillows! I have a 7 year old and can still get her around with everything in it.My husband put a special air filter in it and I get better mileage now than I did. I really don't have to worry much about mileage since the furthest I go is usually around 30 miles!It has plenty of room for decals on the back glass and generates lots of attention. People always tell me "I've seen that car in town!" Of course, next they usually say "I didn't realise that was you." I believe that people have not gotten SO used to seeing the PT that it still has its eye drawing benefit.Small town--should probably put my name as well as "Wife of..., daughter of ..., grandaugthter of..." I would definitely recommend the cruiser as a mobile unit. It has great accessibility for the trunk--right at knee level, and things just slide to you. The back seats lie flat.I'm thinking Chrysler now owes me some sort of kickback now!!  ;DVal

val~i've gotta agree, i get great gas mileage now. hubby wants to add that air filter system too.i'd be a little more enthusiastic about my cruiser today, if it had not broken down on me yesterday.   i drove 6 blocks to the store and when i came out, it would not shift out of park. had to have it towed; thank goodness it's still under warrantee. i think the shift button broke. i hope it's not the linkage. in any case, it's the 1st day of what is supposed to be one of the biggest tourist weeks of the year in my town.ok. done ranting  ;Dseriously, i'd still get a cruiser if i was going mobile. the lease rate is very comparable and if you're buying, you get 7/70 warrantee protection on your engine and drivetrain.

Mush--Tell your hubby that air filter does work!We do lease our PT--not too badly priced. Actually cheaper than my payment on my last used car (camry).Sorry to hear about your breakdown. If your dealer is like mine in any way, it should be fixed quickly with little problem.Good luck during your busy season! I'm still hoping to have a busy season! I've been thinking of up-grading to a Honda CRV or a Saturn Vue in the near future....

Have the Vue, LOVE it.  I also have another Saturn(SLII) so my incentives were great.

I did not want a "super" SUV but I knew I needed the room.

I have noticed that my back issues are less stepping out of the truck vs. the car.

So that was a plus.

The cargo space more than accomodates my table and "stuff".  It moved the large pieces of furniture when we opened the office.

I will get another when the need arises.

WOWZA, gutehands...that's a nice ride! I've been driving an Escort wagon....it ain't elegant, but it's been incredibly reliable, cheap to keep on the road and fits everything with room to spare. And I don' t think I need to worry about anyone trying to steal the hubcaps!

My Table, chair, sheets, CD player, and inflatable support system all fit at one time in the trunk of my Jetta TDI although it does have a good sized lip to the trunk.  This is without folding down the back seat which allows even more.  It surprised me that it all fits easily.  The better thing right now is that it truly does get 47 mpg on the highway and thrashing it around town gets 39 mpg.  Of course you need to plan ahead so that you aren't scrambling to find a place with diesel while you are on fumes.  I'm thinking about converting to vegetable oil anyway and cleaning the output up even more than it is.   We won't be able to work if we can't breathe and it will be fun to drive a car that smells like donuts
