Best Day In Practice and Best Table Hours

What are the best hours that you have found works well for those of you in FT practice?

And, what days are the best or least desirable? Does everyone find themselves busy on Saturdays?

Tuesdays are booked solid as far in advance as I can see. I've taken it off my "hours" list, because there is no way anybody else is getting in then, anyway. Fridays and Saturdays are my lightest days. I work mostly evenings, but Tuesdays I work all day and well into the evening.

Tuesday and Thursday afternoon into late evenings (1:00pm - 9:00 pm) are my most popular. It's rare I'm out of my office before 10:30 on those nights. Sundays come in as second most popular. I only take 3-4 clients that day and 3 out of 4 Sundays are booked full every month, well in advance.

Slowest day is Monday. Saturdays are slow in the sense that while I always have clients on Saturday, it's usually only 1 or 2 morning clients and then I'm done.

Our clinic is busiest Thursdays and Fridays in the evenings and Saturdays with Mondays being either extremely busy or extremely slow.

I work in a day spa. Wednesdays are usually our slowest days. Tuesdays and Thursdays we are open until 6:30, so we're able to get a couple more appointments in those days.
Our most hectic days and the days things are usually most tightly booked are Friday and Saturday because we're in a tourist area.
But it can depend on the area, the time of year, your target markets, lots of things...

My Sat and Sun are usaully pakced with a waitlist, except for my last two wqeekends (slower then slow). Monday's I work a double and I usually get 6 massages in.

Same here. Dunno why Although lately things are starting to even out more. (I take Sun & Mon off, though, so I just have Tues thru Sat to go on.)

As for hours, DEFINITELY evening. I'm in an outer-ring suburb, and I find that people simply cannot get here before 6:30. So I do a 4-9 kind of thing for the few who CAN get here early (which I always suggest to them that they do come early if it works with their schedule, because there's more competition for the evening hours and it helps them get the days they want).

I also worked for 3 yrs at a massage clinic in an inner-ring suburb. We found that Sat was by far the busiest (all day, from 10-4) followed by Fri (10-5) and Thursday afternoon/evening (3-8 or so). All-day therapists found themselves busiest from 2-5, but since I couldn't start before 4 and I worked 4-8:30 or so, we were still quite busy even after the daytime MTs went home at 5p.

It depends. I have a number of recurring clients who come in regularly. Not counting those, I would say that the weekends are the busiest, with Saturday being more consistently busy.

I'm soooo glad people have found that Mondays are somewhat busy. That's the main day when I see private clients at a studio space. It gives me hope.

My busy times are not consitent. sometimes Saturdays are busy, sometimes not. Evenings are the easiest to fill up for sure though.

Wow, thanks for all of the replies. I was very curious as to the Saturday hours.

I wonder if taking off a Friday and working Saturday a.m. is the better option then for a new practice.

It seemed like Mondays and Wednesday's were pretty busy in the chiro clinic I worked in.

I'm really surprised to see so many people say that their busiest days AREN'T on the weekends. And pleased.

I think this would have so much to do with what group makes up most of your clients, and the area you live in.

For instance, most of my clients are either retired, or visiting. This is an active tourist area.

Therefore, weekends are very busy: Fri, Sat, Sun.

Also, I don't have such a calling for evening appointments because my retired clients have no trouble coming in 9-5, M-F. I find this mix of clients gives me a fairly spread out schedule, with no one day getting too much attention, except during the heat of the summer, then Saturdays are by far my busiest. The spa where I work at, Wednesdays are the slowest. I tend to make Wednesdays my official day off.

For my few working folks, Friday afternoon/evening seems to be popular. Start the weekend off right!

For a number of years now (at least 4), I have been consistently busy on Sats. from 2pm-7pm. It is rare that I don't have appointments booked in advance on Sats. I take a 2, 3:30 & 5:30 appt. 2pm is a 1 hour, the 3:30 and 5:30 can be 1 or 1 and 1/2 hour massage. I will make time to see other clients later in the evening on Sats. and would say that at least once to twice per month I am working on clients until 9pm on a Sat. even though it is not advertised.

Over the past years Wed & Fri were also consistently busier days for me, with Fridays being booked in advance for the 11am and 5:30 and 7pm (or later) slots, almost weekly.

My suggested hours are W-F 11am - 8pm & Sat. 2pm-6pm, but I am somewhat flexible.

I work M,W,F 9 - 5 and TH, 3-7. I also work one SAT a month with usually only morning hours on that day. I find that WED is usually my busiest day with FRI a close second.
